If You Could Change One Thing

Fired Tom Olivaddatti or however he spells his name and had a real D cordinator when Dan was in his prime instead of the joke D we had.

I would have drafted Thurman Thomas in the 1988 NFL draft. If we had a great running game and the Bills didn't then maybe we win that 1992 AFC Championship game. It would have given Marino that second chance to get his ring. Dallas was good that year but Marino, Clayton, Duper, Jackson and Thomas would have had a good shot at Aikman, Irvin, Emmitt.

Yeah, thats a good one.

Thurman Thomas instead of Eric Kumerow? In a New York Minute.

Lots of good suggestions so far. I would have to go with a stud runningback to team with Marino. I love the Herschel Walker idea. That would have been an awesome backfield.

If I could change anything it would be getting Dan the man Barry Sanders then he might have had 2 or 3 SB rings.

Probably the most logical fit of a great RB that could have worked with Dan. Barry could turn NOTHING into a TD. Given Dan's desire to throw lazers and the limited attention the ground game got.... Barry could have been so impactful with fewer touches that he could have changed Don's offensive strategy.

So many other RBs needed lots of touches to get going. Barry was the ultimate single play RB. He didn't need 10 - 15 touches to get going. On any given touch, it was going to the house. Exactly what Dan needed. Someone who could turn 15 touches a game into 100 yards.

To do away with the salary cap, that when the dolphins started having problems with personal, Don wasn't able to adapt to the salary cap era like most of the older head coachs of that time. They were used to beeing able to keep the same players together for years and not having to redo the team every season

The salary cap did not kill us, we kept most of our good players until Johnson took over losing three good players right off the bat. What killed us up to this day is not drafting well in the late 80's and up to now.

do you know how many superbowl and records that would be

I love Jerry but looking at that team I don't think a receiver is what would have put us over the top. We had some really good receivers. A stud runningback that could make yards on his own that would have been the key.
Thats why I took the Hershal Walker in the draft approach. Walker was probably one of the most talented backs to ever play the game of football and his skill set would have made Marino that much better. Walker could make yards on his own and had excellent receiving skills. I would take Walker coming out of college. over any RB that ever played in the modern era of football. Hell he even returned kicks. Walker was never in the right offense for his skills or was sharing time. Shula knew how to use a back like Walker.

Would of Made Bill Belichick our head coach instead of Wanny.

A close second would be not trading 2 1st round picks for Ricky Williams who has been a disgrace to this franchise and would have drafted Clinton Portis instead.

disgrace or not Ricky did everything during his 18oo yard season to help us win even though they were truly stacking the box to stop him. If we had a Qb that could scare the defense slightly we would be talking about our superbowl win instead of this.

I still think 2 1st round for 1 Great and 1 good season is way too much. again it wasn't my top thing I would change cause he was special when on the field... I still think Wanny is to blame for the state we are in... Fletcher, Eddie Munster Moore, Ricky Williams, AJ Feeley, Lamar Gordon and we can keep going on and on.

He was big disgrace the guy only ran for over 1700 yards how dare him :shakeno:

I guess the fact he quits the team and retires instead of being a man and admitting to breaking the leagues substance abuse policy, comes back and is suspended again for failing another test, tries to be re-instated but fails another drug test make him an a role model for society?

Yes he did give us 2 good years but are you honestly proud to have him on the Dolphins roster? He also ran for 1853 and 1372 yards which are amazing it itself but not worth 2 first round picks....

Point being it comes in second in things I would change.... I still think Wanny was a bigger mistake.
