What would you do different, heres my versions plus an overview of the WS (Wanny Speilman) Picks, tell me what you think.

Speilman and Wanny Picks

1 #26) Jamar Fletcher - Wanny flop, was small coming out of college, 5'9", and probably wasent going to be drafted untill the 2nd or 3rd round (Because of size) but good old Wanny thought that he was something special, wrong. Fletcher never really became the CB he could have been and ended up being traded with a 6th round pick to San Diego for WR David Boston.

2 #52) Chris Chambers - One of the high spots of the Wanny Spielman era, great reciever. The only nack on him coming out of college was his size, 5'11", but he ended out to be our WR of the future, great pick.

3 #85) Travis Minor - Not really going to bash them too much about this pick. He had alot of hype coming out of college and seemed like a good pick at the time, still not a horrible one. I would have drafted in different areas, or taken him a round or 2 later, but this wasent a "horrible" pick.

4 #88) Morlon Greenwood - Really nice pick. This is another highlight of the Wanny Speilman era. Greenwood turned out to be a durable LB for us, now he is a rich one playing for the Texans.

5 #156) Shawn Draper - Ok pick, would have taken someone different, he just never ended up being anything in the NFL.

6 #164) Brandon Winey - Again a pretty good pick, he was released by us I believe. He has caught on with the Giants and is now a durabale Lineman for them.

6 #177) Josh Heupel - Not a good pick IMO. QB who was never going to be anything but Wanny and Speilman thought different, the were wrong, again.

6 #187) Otis Levertte - Never caught on with us. Hes a durable DE for Seattle now, did ok 2 years ago and decent last year for SF. I wouldent have taken him, but leave it to WS.

6 #188) Rick Crowell - He didnt ever catch on, anywhere.

My Draft

1 # 26) Drew Brees - Pro Bowl QB, why wouldent I take him here? Hes a solid QB and I remember WISHING that we would take him, our QB problem would have been solved had he been taken here.

2 #52) Chris Chambers - What can I say, good pick.

3 #85) Reggie Hayward - Great DE, would be starting next to JT. Would have been starting w/ Ogun untill he got traded.

3 #88) Morlon Greenwood - Wouldent change it, he was solid.

5 #156) Rick Demulling - Great Olineman for Indy, would have been a great choice here.

All 6ths - Nothing special, you tell me.

2002

Speilman and Wanny picks

3 #90) Seth McKinney - :barf: typical WS pick, hes bad, but hes starting so I dont know what to make of him just yet.

4 #114) Randy McMichael - Great Great Great pick, has a chance to be one of the top 5 TEs in the NFL but due to off-the-field issues and a SUCKY QB hes a #7 or #8 TE.

5 #161) Omare Lowe - Who?

5 #170) Sam Simmons - Did OK for us, but was never and I dont think will ever be anything

7 #241) Lenard Henry - Did good for us last year. Wont become anything though.

My Picks

3 #90) Marques Anderson - Did good in Oakland. He would now be our starting SS and Knight never would have came. He would be taken earlier than he should have been but he will be a great SS IMO.

4 #114) Obvious

5 #161) Pete Hunter - At least hes still in the league

5 #170) Chad Williams - Good SS for Baltimore. Would be backingup Anderson.

7 #241) David Givens - Good WR would prob take DT's spot on the roster.

2003

Spielman and Wanny picks

2 #49) Eddie Moore - Wasent even supposed to be drafted. For some unknown reason Wanny believed he could be some kind of Pro Bowl LB and he just hasent panned out yet. I dont know what to make of him yet, hes been hurt soo much, bu I would have taken someone else.

3 #78) Wade Smith - Looked like he was a great pick in his first year in the league, where it seemed like he did everything right. I think all the pressure of doing so good caught up to him because last year he sucked. He broke his forearm in TC and it now seems like he will no longer be part of the Dolphins.

3 #87) Taylor Witley - Why? Why? Why? Why did WS make this pick? Wasent supposed to be taken untill the 6th or 7th round but good old WS thought they could really turn him into something special, think again.

5 #156) Donald Lee - Could actually be a good pick, but looks like we may drop him this year  , Diamond will beat him out.

5 #169) JR Tolver- Did nothing for us, got released.

6 #181) Corey Jenkins - Has been an overlooked player, he has been a very good ST player for the Dolphins in the lat 2 years. Unfortunatlly it looks like he may be the odd man out this year with a thick corp of LB's and S's.

6 #209) Thomas Provost - Who? I guess he didnt cut it with us, or anyone for that matter.

6 #213) Yerimah Bell - Looks like he will be the second FS behind Lance unless his in injury is serious. A really good pick, they found talent in Bell, would have a chance at starting if he gets moved to SS. This year will show how good Bell can be, I think he can be a very good S.

7 #248) Daverian Williams - Never made it.

My Picks

2 #49) Anquan Bolden- Woud be starting next to CC with Brees throwing to him, ahh a man can dream cant he?

3 #78) Ricky Manning Jr - Did a really good job in Carolina, would be starting this year, or at least competing with Poole and taking over when Madison leaves.

3 #87) Montrae Holland - Would be a good starting guard for us like he is for New Orleans Now.

5 #156) Dan Koppen - Hey! Theres our starting C, Koppen instead of McKinney, what a dream.

6 #181) Same

6 #209) Ken Dorsey - Would back up Brees, Ha thats sounds so good.

6 #213) Same

7 #248) Dosent Really matter

2004

Speilman and Wanny picks

1 #18) Vernon Carey - Last year I would have said a dumb pick. This year he is seemingly dominating JT and anyone else he faces for that matter. Never thought I would hear myself sayin this but.......Great Pick.

4 #102) Will Poole - Wow, steal of the draft, no doubt. I have absolutley no idea how this kid lasted this long. He got hurt and is out for the season, but look out next year.

5 #160) Tony Bua - Overrated IMO. I think that he is going to be cut, dont get me wrong, I dont dislike him, but he isint doing anything in the NFL.

6 #174) Rex Hadnot - Looks like hes going to be a pretty good steal.

7 #221) Tony Pape - Looked like a very good pick at the time. He could have gone as early as the 3rd round, but he retired.

7 #222) Derrick Pope - A steal, I didnt think he was going to be anything special, but he turned out to be pretty good.

My Picks

1 #18) Same

4 #102) Same

5 #160) Same

6 #174) Same

2 7's) Same

I cant think of anyone whom I would change.

Not going to do my version of the 05 draft till the ned of the year. So, do you agree with my changes, or do you have better versions? Either way, tell me what you think.

1 # 26) Drew Brees - Pro Bowl QB, why wouldent I take him here? Hes a solid QB and I remember WISHING that we would take him, our QB problem would have been solved had he been taken here.

Except he would have looked horrible behind our OL and never would have broken through. Remember for Brees to finally break through he has one of the best backs in the league, he finally got some at least serviceable WR's and of major importance his OL improved massively.

In Miami Brees would have been run out of town by now.

2001: Here's my opinion on how we should've drafted in 2001. Hindsight completely out of the frame.

1st Round: Chad Johnson - WR Oregon State or Reggie Wayne - WR Univ. Miami

Although an unproven, somewhat unheard of receiver until the combine, Johnson showed me a lot. I think he had the talent and he could harness it well. Wayne, a more proven receiver was a hometown favorite and would've fit well in our system.

2nd Round: Travis Henry - RB Tennessee or Shaun Rogers - DT Texas

Henry was a favorite of mine. He had great vision and technique, able to change it up and make nice cuts and bursts. This no doubt would've changed the world with no trade for Ricky also. Shaun Rogers was a monster of a man, someone we could really have used with Darryl Gardner leaving.

3rd Round: Casey Rabach - C Wisconsin or Robert Garza - C Texas A&M - Kingsville

Would've stuffed a muffin in a gap behind Ruddy that would then go on to be occupied by...well....nobody. Rabach was home property coming out of this draft. Garza benched the most reps of any player at the combine and had a very impressive workout compilation.

4th Round: Chris Weinke - QB Florida State or Carlos Polk - LB Nebraska

This pick was traded to Dallas but who cares. Technically Weinke would've been off the board a few picks earlier but who cares? He was looking good at the time. Hindsight dynamite, huh? Polk was a favorite of mine, a workout warrior who tried hard. Edgerton Hartwell would've been nice here too.

hindsight is 20/20.. good thread tho.

Couldn't say it any better!
Granted many of these picks never paned out but we got a few. Sabans will go the same way, but coaching will help in development better than anything, so i'm optimistic! Then theres the draft class, alot of small guys in the later end of rounds while we tried to be competitive!

We can shed tears in our spilled milk, but I just wanna grab a fresh glass!!!

i will do 2002 draft

#3 Brian Westbrook

#4 I love Mcmike but gotta go with Larry Foote

#5 chris cash

#5 Jeb Putzier

#7 David Givens

Love these shuda cuda wuda posts.....ok... here it goes..
98 draft
1st-Moss instead of Averey
2nd- Surtain
3rd-Kruetz/Trotter instead of Shannon/Jackson-btw biggest 3rd round bust in Fins history
4th-Brommel
5th-FredBeasly instead of Shaw
6th-Hassleback-instead of Dutton (grrrrr)
7th-PattTillman instead of Bundren
I garuntee Marino would have a SuperBowl ring, and there would be no arguement he would go down in history as the Greatest QB IN nfl HISTORY

to bad by 2002 most of em wuda been gone cuz of the SalaryCap and F/A...

If only we could go back and change that...
But to be fair, Simmons was supposed to be a great slot receiver. Instead he handled kickoffs?

Redo the first 7 rounds of the 1988 Draft

Round 1. Instead of Eric Kumerow take Thurman Thomas RB
Round 2. Instead of Jarvis Williams take Brett Perriman WR
Round 3. Instead of Ferrel Edmunds take Bill Romanowski OLB
Round 4. Instead of Greg Johnson take Cris Dishman DB
Round 5. Instead of Rodney Thomas take Chad Hennings DT
Round 6. Instead of George Cooper take Lemuel Stinson CB
Round 7. Instead of Kerwin Bell take Brian Habib G

This would have gotten Marino 3-4 Super Bowls guaranteed.

Gee, isn't it easy to play Monday morning QB...you know, if I knew then what I know now type of thing...

pretty good defense there

2003. we had 9 picks and after saban makes his cuts there could only be 1 player left (bell) from that draft and it was 2 years ago!

This is not true. Here is a portion of the pre-draft ranking from CBS sportsline:

60 Eddie Moore Tennessee OLB 6-0 3/8 237 16 4.65
61 Terry Pierce Kansas St. ILB 6-1 3/8 251 27 4.70
62 Willis McGahee Miami RB 6-0 3/8 223 12 4.30
63 Artose Pinner Kentucky RB 5-9 3/4 229 14 4.68
64 Teyo Johnson Stanford WR 6-5 3/8 247 24 4.61
65 Jon Stinchcomb Georgia T 6-5 302 37 5.06
66 Cecil Sapp Colorado St. RB 5-11 229 17 4.55
67 Anquan Boldin Florida St. WR 6-0 5/8 216 31 4.71

This ranking has Moore just 11 spots away from where he was selected. Hardly the reach that some like to claim. I had not seen any publications that indicated he might not get drafted.

Please notice who is ranked at 67, behind Moore.

good find...

eddie moore is a good footballer, he just needs to stay healthy. I dont think he is a goner, Saban has seen what he has done in the SEC.

interesting picks... but fletcher was seen as a late first rounder by everyone, he wasn't supposed to be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round, that wasn't a bad pick at the time by wanny... just unfortunate he didn't live up to the hype
