If you had the authority to make any rule changes to this game that we are so passionate about, what changes would you make?
Just Curious.

As per myself, I think if a player commits a personal foul, they should have to sit out a series of downs.

In the area of unnecessary roughness, I would outlaw throws. Not of the ball but of the player during a tackle.

It should be illegal to pick someone up and throw them down, or grab and hold them while pivoting on an axis and throwing them to the ground. No suplexing or judo or Jujitsu type throwing… So both the Tua hit in Cinci and the Brady tackle that drew the personal foul would be illegal.

Tackling someone should mean wrapping them up and dragging them to the ground.

I realize it’s not a real idea and just fantasy but if you commit a personal foul in football or a technical foul in basketball and as a result the player you commit it on gets hurt, you have to sit out as long as the injured player does.

So if you commit a late hit on a QB and he gets concussed and is out 4 weeks, you’re out four weeks.

In basketball a player is going up for a layup and you throw him to the ground. He breaks his wrist and is out eight weeks. You’re out eight weeks.

1) Make rules that are easy to interpret and absolute in the action to be taken.
2) Use slow motion video reviews to allow for immediate game time reviews.
3) Allow for teams to request six reviews (challenges) a game. I am basing this on one per quarter plus another one in the last two minutes of each half - but those six can be used at any time during the game by the HC.
4) Make reviews required after every type of score.
5) Review the referee's performance after every game.
6) Bring in new ref's every year to replace those ref's who require or quit, who become ill or injured, who's performance has fallen below an acceptable level based on post-game NFL reviews or look to be involved in any kind of human sports gambling, as opposed to horse or dog racing.

For me I’d make all celebrations except touchdown’s a unsportsmanlike conduct. There isn’t anything that looks dumper then having a WR or TE celebrate a first down or catch. When the team he plays for is down by two or more scores. That’s probably why Barry Sanders is my favorite non Dolphins player.

I actually like this. Commit an illegal act that injures a player and take your ass to IR with him.

Nikola Jokic would have missed the entire season after that Markieff Morris incident. And that would have been good for his ass.

I’d eliminate roughing the passer and unnecessary roughness and replace them with a penalty for late hits. If it’s not late, it’s football.

I’d deal with intentional helmet-to-helmet targeting via suspension, not in-game penalties.
