how would you stop the stack and bunched reciever formations pittsburgh used with so much sucesslast nite, especially on 3rd down.

I tell you one thing I would NOT have done: called ANY formation that left Hines Ward, their number one WR, covered by a linebacker or single covered at all.

thats it nobody has any actual football ideas and defenses or coverages we could or perhaps should have employed...

zone blitzes with an our most athletic d line in there that can drop into flats or short hook zones. create traffic and confusion for the qb and ALWAYS keep a safety deep middle to prevent the huge play. playing man coverage vs bunch sets can get you in real trouble because the offense will run pick routes right off the line and the refs won't call it.

You know its always easy to look back and say what play you should have called, but you never really know at the time

Anyway Id go more Vanilla on D.....our Blitz never creates any pressure and when the Blitz doesnt get there it leaves your secondary vulnerable

The more and more I think about it . . . we don't have the speed or power to be that super blitzing team . . . tho we blitz quite a bit, we never really had that great success with the blitz in a long time. With our secondary still working out the kinks and stll trying to get . . . I would agree to go more vanilla on D also, and blitz less . . . sometimes u have to try and get pressure but when its ineffective the whole game, they need to go another route, because our secondary isn't the greatest u know lol.

Our most successful blitz's have been with corners and safeties ... off the corner.

We just don't get there up the middle .... ZACH is too small and SEAU didn't have any success either, although BOTH used to try continuously over the last couple years .... CROWDER should have better success, but haven't noticed it yet .....

But do we really have the secondary to never attempt blitzes. We were vanilla on D since Jimmy Johnson was here and where did it take us??
