Ireland: Mr. Ross - we're not going to be any good here in Miami until we get a franchise QB. You know this has haunted Miami for years and years. The fans NEED a franchise QB...they won't be satisfied here in Miami until they get someone at least mildly comparable to Marino. The stop-gap guys ain't gonna cut it. You're going to sell less and less tickets until this problem is solved.

Ross: What about my Michigan man, Chad Henne?? He's looking sharp!

Ireland: Henne has improved, but let's face it, he's not going to take this team to the SuperBowl. Can you see him doing it? Honestly? I tried to get Carson, but Mike Brown ****ed that all up.

Ross: Well, I don't know a football from my arsehole, but yeah, I guess you're right. But I love those Michigan boys, Long and Henne. They're Wolverine-tastic!

Ireland: Look. Andrew Luck is the best QB to come out in years. He makes Tony Romo look like a sack of potatoes. And you know how I like Romo. And Matt Barkley looks pretty good too, not a bad plan B.

Ross: Oh cool. Sign them up. Both of them. We have the room under the roof, hat, whatever you call it, right? That's what I read from one of those beat writers.

Ireland: Well, they're not exactly free agents. They are going to come out in the 2012 draft. If you'll let me stay to execute the plan, I can get Miami's franchise QB, guaranteed.

Ross: What, trade up?

Ireland: Not exactly. More....premeditated than that.

Ross: I don't get it. I hate it when you play these mind-benders with me, Jeff.

Ireland: Think harder.

Ross: No...we couldn't. That's........

Ireland: Brilliant? Yeah. It's perfect. This team wasn't going to do anything this season anyways. We already wanted to replace Tony. The key here is to do it without looking like we're doing it. We have to try to address the needs of the team without actually addressing them. That's where you need me...to do this RIGHT...like "oh, we just stumbled upon 2-14. Oops." We just let Tony ride off into the sunset, get you a PROVEN HC and a franchise QB next offseason. The sell-outs will be back, baby.

Ross: This is so evil I love it. You're a shrewd businessman, Jeff.

Ireland: Yeah...my mom wasn't a hooker.

Well said. We definitly have the evilest GM in the league!! And no, I wouldn't support this but it could be happening.

I laughed the whole time reading that.

Just picturing Ireland being as serious as he can be and here's that big-eared freak Ross just grinning from ear to ear because he's too stupid to know anything about anything. It's all so true. It was essentially like reading a lot of FinHeaven. You could have replaced Ireland with JCane and Ross with damn near anyone.

if your 1 and 4 or worse after 5 games it is time to put up the white flag..

I only half-believe my own fiction. Was Ireland to actually pitch this plan, I could totally see Ross going with it. The only question in my mind is whether Ireland would pitch a plan like this. And honestly, why wouldn't he? Several teams in the league are making concerted efforts not necessarily to suck, but just not to try to get any better to get to .500. And I ask myself...what the heck has Ireland done to keep himself retained/safe while Tony goes down in flames? He has to have a longer-term plan that Ross buys into. Well, here's one that Ross would in fact buy into.

By the way, while we're on this diabolical hypo, consider this:

Is a midseason firing of Sparano and subsequent replacement with Nolan as interim coach likely to lead to more or less losses compared to leaving Tony for the season? 'Cause I can tell you right now, they ain't going to fire Tony in order to get MORE wins this season.

Nah, Jeffie would ideally like to wait and see what UDFA quarterback Dallas will release in training camp next summer.

As much as most of us hate Jeff Ireland and believe him to be an idiot, he's still a business professional. No way he pitches that plan under any scenario lol.

Ireland's job is to secure personnel for the short-term and long-term benefit of the franchise. It's not his job to win now (that's Tony's). I don't see this plan as any sort of violation of his business professionalism. Let's be honest - as much as I get pissed when people suggest sucking for Luck, going 1-15 or 2-14 or whatever WOULD probably be the best thing that could happen for this franchise's future. So why does it make it unprofessional for Jeff to suggest, pursue, or enable such a scenario?

If we are tanking, then it's best to let Sparano sink with the ship. Teams tend to rally around the interim, if only for a few games.

well imo if it dose happen you can write off cowher, gruden, and fisher as head coach here because there NOT going to want jeff here in there plans and they will be wanting to bring in there own guys that they trust.

Yeap.

Jason Garrett and the Dallas Cowboys come to mind after Jerruh finally canned that marshmallow with a headset.

Intentionally tank a season? Hmmm....... I'm sure the players will never notice that one happening. Once they do, you just lost several player's respect.

If Sparano stays all season you don't need to worry about tanking.
