SD has no real outstanding needs going into this draft outside of beating NE and Indy. There's a ton of talk about them trading out of their 1st pick to accumulate more picks. How long does LT have playing at this level 2-3yrs, trading for JT would give them two of the most outstanding pass rushers in the game. Their defense is stout right now and think of what it would be like with adding JT to it, their window of winning a championship is in the next few years which happens to be the same as NE and Indy. Making a move like this could put them over the top.

To me this makes a great deal of sense and giving up a late 1st is peanuts, finishing behind NE and Indy in the playoffs every year will be the biggest waste of talent on that team. This could be an opportunity too good to pass up.

What do you think......

It makes all the sense in the world for San Diego to trade for Jason Taylor. However, it won't happen. I think AJ Smith is pretty adament in trading down for more picks.

I would love for it to happen, but I just don't see it. Yes it makes sense, but that doesn't usually work out that way in the World of the NFL. I find it hard to believe we'll get more than a high 2nd + 3rd perhaps.

I agree with you about aquiring more picks, I just think when you look at the last 12 years or so teams need to strike when their close or they'll watch that window close really quickly.

NE is really a freak like franchise in this era of FA, but even they showed if the opportunity to improve greatly arises you can't pass it up. They will once again be the favourites to win it all next year but now with a chip on their shoulders.

If SD thinks it will just happen for them they will be the bridesmaids of the AFC.

It makes no sense at all for San Diego to trade for Jason Taylor and anyone who thinks it does is wrong.

It might be something they'd consider if we didn't already have their 2nd round pick.

Not having any picks on the first day would hurt them long term...and while LT is getting older Rivers is still very young, so they're planning on being very good for a very long time.

Plus they've been really good with their first and second round picks...Merriman, Cromartie, Jackson, McNeill, etc.

If Merriman does get suspended, yeah. I think they are to close to not think about it. I would love to see JT go there, SD is a team I have no problem cheering for.

Actually it's worse than I thought....they don't have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.....they're looking to trade back from the 1st round to pick up some additional picks so they don't walk away from the draft with nothing.

Unlikely they'll trade their 1st for any veteran at this point.
