And you can take that and make me eat crow in the future if you want (you won't have the chance).
I am STILL 100% behind Saban. Is the guy god? no, he's not perfect, but he's a darn good coach, and I have FULL faith in the guy.
He drafted Ronnie Brown, who is an EXCELLENT back. I read thread after thread criticizing Ronnie. It gets old to hear the criticism of a 2nd year back who's averaging 70+ yards per game and is gettting Minimal touches. He's been a great back, and I'm very excited about having him. I feel he was ABSOLUTELY the right pick.
Saban's other picks have been fine. Crowder is great, I have the utmost faith that Hagan will develope, and expect to see Roth get better with time (he's already improved). Allen is a bit of a coin toss, but I'll give him time before I judge him harshly. He got in late, and we run an incredibly complicated D and he's learning TWO POSITIONS for crying out loud. Poor guy. I think Saban's mistake here is not in drafting him, but possibly overloading him in making him learn two positions. It could hurt his confidence in the long run if he continues to struggle, but he's getting better, albeit slowly.
Other than that, I'm not a fan of Mularky. This is my one gripe on Saban. I wish he'd put Mularky on a much shorter leash. I'm frustrated with Ronnie not getting the touches, and Mularky is just.....let's just say I grimaced when I heard he's coming to Miami. That said, Saban lost his O coordinator, and had to bring someone in. I really hope he makes a change after this offseason.
Not bringing in W's in NOT necessarily a reflection on Saban. People need to get through their heads that he took over a Team that Wanny ran into the ground. We were in poor cap position, we have had MANY bad years of drafting leaving a HUGE talent gap, and have had to switch O Coordinators TWICE in two years.
Give the guy a break. Wanny deserves THREE years after this one to see if we can get things rolling. This team was in a dismal position when Saban came in, it's not an over night fix. I hope C-pep gets better, but Saban is ABSOLUTELY right in not pulling him. He's showing his genius right here (and fans the opposite) in calling for Joey. You pick a #1 QB and STICK WITH HIM. Changing QB's creates huge internal problems. Give C-Pep time to develope and adjust. It'll Happen, give these boys TIME.
I'm Officially on the Give Saban 3 more years, and sign Ronnie to a 7 year contract band wagon.
