Why does it seem like this caoching staff is deathly afraid of Sage Rosenfels taking the field. I can't believe Gus missed all of practice all week long and now becuase he few a couple of balls Saban is thinking he will start. Our coaches are acting like we can't win without our star QB. Gimme a break, this is gus Frerrotte we're talking about, isn't it????

Look, I'm not expecting Sage to be great or even that good but i am very curious to see if he can be a little more accurate with the Football than Gus is and if that will make any difference.

he has been in the organization for a while now, if he has shown any superior accuracy or talent.. we wouldnt even be looking to see how gus's finger is..

Dont put too much faith in sage.. Saban knows whats best..

That pretty much sums it up. After last weeks performance, Gus deserves the start if he can go.

i think he played good because the patriots secundary it's not good at all, and he threw the football like 40 times and completed only 20 somthing, that it's 50 percent. that it's what he has been doing all season.

if a player isn't good in practice, i don't think you can expect much from him in a game

i think it may because Gus is the safer bet at the moment as daft as it sounds. Gus has NEARLY got us a few more wins and its those nearly's that have kept him in the starting position.

It depends on the person IMO. A friend of mine Plays WR in my school and during practice he dropped passes, but when it was game time he never droped a pass.

True. I think a lot of people (myself included) just want to see him play as a nice change to watching Gus. Even if he's no good tehre's that morbid curiosity, like looking at a car accident. I don't do tah tBTW but for a QB change I'd like to take a peek!

They see him everyday and we have only seen him twice in the last year. I really hope that he is great but the coaches know better than us. If he is worse than Gus he will not be next year.

...then couldn't they know that frerotte [career backup] wasn't going to be very good? and if they know exactly what they were going to get puting sage out there, they should have known what they were going to get out of guss!! right?

and if they knew guss was stinky, and they felt the #2 guy they wouldn't even want to have throw one ball out there, WHY THE HELL ARE THEY HERE?

saban and linehan couldn't find guys out there who would be better than 50% accurate?

most coaches can not, and most of the time will not, admit they made a mistake. if they put sage out there with a game plan that makes him look the real deal at qb, then people will be going "why the heck didn't they figure this out in camp, etc.....

not gonna happen.

now, sage could be just as stinky as the fins coaches seem to believe he is, he could get a 5 game shot and fail, but we are NEVER going to know. saban will not risk a ding on his reputation.

and thats sad.

i hope they let rosenfells go at seasons end. he deserves a chance to compete, and i mean for real, not just lip service like he has gotten for the last 4 years with us. if he can't play. for gods sake, let him go and fill the spot with someone who can!!!!!!! :yell:

They know what alot of us have been saying all week. Gus is the best option for this team to win. Sage is a backup for a reason. If Saban thought Sage could win games Gus has given him every opportunity to bench him and give Sage his shot. Hasn't happened, why? Sage can't get the job done.

If Sage is put in and does well the coaching staff will be under fire for not putting him in earlier. Sage is gone next year and the last QB ties to the old regime will be severed. That's the darker version. The brighter version is either he doesnt feel Sage is any good or he doesnt want to be bothered with the growing pains Sage would have to endure if he started
