I just read a Hyde article that made it sound like we gave up a 3rd and the 8th pick in the trade with the Eagles. I thought we were the ones getting a 3rd?:idk:
 
don't be cofused.

they are estimating we will get a 3rd round compensatory pick next year for losing vernon. the eagles trade was just sliding back from 8 to 13. that might be what hyde was referring to.

No confusion necessary we traded down to save them from their horrible contract so we could pay maxwell twice what he is worth.
 
i think what hyde was saying is moving from the 8th slot to 13th slot is worth roughly a third round pick and he doesn't think taking Alonzo and Maxwell instead of the pick was a wise move. Basicly saying Miami lost a third round pick by accepting the two vets instead.
 
I like the draft value chart as much as the next guy, but if the guy we lIke is there at 13, that trumps the chart's "estimated value."

While I'm willing to wait and see what Alonzo and Maxwell play like before I judge the trade, even if the player you wanted is available at 13 you still want to get value for the trade. If you swap spots and get nothing else in return it wouldn't be a wise move.
 
I still don't get this trade with the Eagles..... when were dumping the salaries of Ellerbe and Mike Wallace last year we didn't get squat.... I believe we actually gave minnesota a 7th round pick to take Wallace and sent a 3rd to the Saints for Stills but they got Ellerbe for cheap!! The Eagles get to move up to the 8th pick for two guys that are not worth it.......we were simply robbed!!!

Biased? Maybe. But I personally have no argument against that sentiment nor can I support the ridiculous fact that we traded out of the top 10 for them.

Not to mention the Eagles settled for swapping 4th round picks with Tennessee for Demarco Murray.
 
We should have received a 3rd round pick from the Eagles this year, and then a compensatory 3rd in 2017.
We traded down for two below average players that would have been cut anyways.
