The phins are caught in a vicious cycle. We hire a new coach and start over trying to accomodate him with the personnel he needs. The phins struggle for a year or two and by year three all the fans are crying for a fresh start again. The fans cry for this high priced player that that high priced player. The phins and their fans are in desperate need of some patience. Ireland needs to stop pursuing instant gradification and put the work in on finding and developing young players.

Philbin has the even keeled mentality and intelligence to make an outstanding head coach. Tannehill has the intelligence, toughness, accuracy and work ethic to become a great NFL QB. To me Ross seems a lot like all of the complainers around here. He wants it now. So, I'm sure we'll be throwing the baby out with the bath water at the end of the year. Chucky will roll into town next year and we''ll start a new. At least we'll still be in a west coast offense.

I can't hear you over us being 3-4 and soon to be 3-5. Don't blame the fans when there isn't a winning team they can support.

Year or two? Patience? I'm confused. When is the last time we won a superbowl or legitimately challenged for one? People want to see progression, not regression. By year 3 of a regime you should know at least that you have your qb and the pieces are really coming into place. This year we don't know about your qb, the oline has regressed completely and the secondary still blows for the most part. So what exactly were you saying?

I think you meant this thread to be titled "I'm disappointed in the team, but I'm more disappointed FOR the fans."

I think cleaning house every few years is why we have been nothing but mediocre to bad for so long. I agree its a vicious cycle. It doesnt equal success

Its a real cheap shot to blame the fans for a franchise that has fielded a terrible product for nearly 2 decades.

I know right? Its not like Ireland was hired as general manager before John Harbaugh was hired by the Ravens.

Learn-2-patience people, geez. We are only 4 more first round picks away from the offensive line being fixed. Just give it time.

The NFL is a win now league and this rebuilding thing is a myth. This team has been seemingly rebuilding for the past decade, meanwhile teams like the Falcons and 49ers have completely passed us after hiring the RIGHT people.

...... and I'm disappointed in this thread.

Just a whole lot of disappointment goin' round.

This.

In a bit of irony, this is why the team has sucked for so long. an unwillingness to adapt in the league.

The days of the rebuilding project are over. From the owner on down, they all have the wrong mindset to be successful in the NFL.

The 49ers went through years of mediocrity with Nolan and Singletary, while the falcons are atrocious this year. The myth is the quick turnaround your pushing.

Sorry there is no excuse for this team being 3-4 right now after starting 3-0. There is no excuse for losing a game against a beat up average team when you are ahead 17-3 at the half. No excuse for scoring 0 points in the second half.

Sorry Joe Philbin and his staff have no valid excuses. Philbin had as much talent if not more on his team than the team he faced today ,yet his team still lost. Losers make excuses for why they lost, winners just find a way to win.

I'd like all the people asserting that the Dolphins' problem is too quickly giving up on coaches/GMs to go on record and state who should have been retained longer than they were. Should Wanny have been kept past 2004? Should Cameron not have been fired after 2007? Should Sparano have gotten yet another playoffs or bust season after starting 2011 with an 0-7 record? Should Saban have been given ownership of the team after 2006 in the hopes that he wouldn't quit?

This team's problem isn't giving up too quickly on mediocre talents. This team's problem is that absolutely nobody hired post-1996 has been any good.
