I believe Samson is our franchise center in our young O-line and we need to replace/back-up the guard spot with Herman Johnson or Duke Robinson in this draft. Huge smokescreen indicating early interest in a center, let Satele get healthy and back in form this year! Then with our awesome conditioning program make sure that Smiley and Thomas stay healthy this year. Either one of these draft picks would give us true depth at all four G/T positions. Another note of interest is the TE pool, top heavy on all-around talent....Pettigrew looks interesting as do Cook and Coffman.

could be right but I don't think so
we need a Center now & that is no smoke screen
having said that, I fully expect that Satele will enter the 09 season bigger & stronger & compete for a starting spot on the roster

I really like Satele, but the guy isn't fit for our offensive scheme. I really think he could play well as a pulling guard if he can add some weight. He is quick and agile. He plays well in space and I hope the FO doesn't give up on him. It would like be throwing away another draft pick if he did. At the least he is a very good backup.

Although he really did struggle this season against dominate NTs. I don't know how much of that is attributed to his injury, but I think the guy really needs to add some weight and strength this offseason if he wants to continue to start for this team.

Only struggled late...after the injury...gives me a lot of faith that when healthy, he controls his space quite nicely. You finish building this line at the guard spot and then we'll see where the holes are...if there are any!!!!!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

satele=grinder/mauler, meaning he is good for the run that is about it, didn't he play nose tackle in college

What the H does that mean. "I'm Going On Record"

Fine I'm garanteeing that Satele will Not be our Center Next year.

So there...............lol

See...J. Brown or theres a couple yutes in the draft we'll be looking at. But the franchise center lol SS is gone at Center

Thanks for "going on record"....see how easy that was...you write it down and then you post it for everyone to see. LOL

BTW is misspelling Guaranteeing kind of like crossing your fingers? I still like my formula better...fix the guard holes first which will improve Satele's opportunity to excel...which he has proven quite capable of in the past!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I guess were all on record..............

If Smiley and Thomas could stay healthy we have guards and our franchiese center as a backup at G too.
But because of potential injury we do need to bring one in IMO.

Love D. Robertson but he won't be our choice because we will be either strengthening our D or picking up a center to replace our franchise one SS....lol..

Naw just didn't know how to spell it. (fingers not crossed)
Oh and I don't think TE's are very high on our list of potential areas of upgrade.

I'll go on record myself, in saying Satele blows. He didn't struggle late, he struggled the whole year. he gets absolutely handled by Big NT's. Jason Brown or Alex Mack please. Now of course, this doesn't mean I want to get rid of Satele. I think he will be a suitable guard and if he can play all the guard spots and Center, that would make him great depth.

First of all, I completely disagree with Satele blowing. His rookie year he looked like the future all-pro we expected when we drafted him in 07. Last year he played the whole season with a torn labrum. I know that the shoulder joint is pivotal in blocking, since it acts as the fulcrum of the arms as they extend from the body. That said, any compromise in this joint would likely not be able to handle heavier loads as well, hence Samson's inability to handle Wilfork and the like.

Secondly, your statements contradict one another. How can a player who "blows" also be "great depth"?

Lastly, I would love to see what Samson could do at guard due to his ability to pull and block in open space so well. Especially if we could get a Jason Brown or Max Unger, who both have a little more size needed for Center.

Yeah, the talk is too obvious. Satele was a weak link in our LIne because of the snapping duties. Satele I beleive will make a good gaurd where he can pull and concentrate of positioning which is his stronger points. When he has to worry about the snap in the Wildcat and such, he loses alot. They know this.

he didnt struggle all yr - look at prev posts from first patriots game stating that satale manhandled V Wilfork. Dont get me wrong thereafter he had bad yr, but considering he was highly though of after his rookie season i dont think we should give up on the guy. He has got full preseason to change from a Cam Cam centre to a Tony Sparano centre and i think as i aod prev............SS and Matt Roth most improved players in 09.

NOW I on record
