The signings of CB/FS R.Marshall and NT/DT P.Solai helps the defense a tremendous amount. If we can sign a RT (E.Winston please) to a solid contract and then get M.Flynn to a "prove it" deal then I would call it an excellent start to the offseason. This gives us a solid oline with Garner/Murtha/Jerry and probably a late round draft pick fighting for the other guard spot and shores up the secondary.

The draft can fill other needs, hopefully we can get a guy like Q.Coples in the first to add to our flexible defensive fronts. The fact that it is a deep draft for WR's makes trading BM a non-issue, Philbin wants his guys to fit his system. I can see us drafting two or three receivers in this draft, easily.

I guess I really don't get the doom and gloom most are regurgitating constantly! I for one like the offseason so far, smart moves with smart contracts!

The defense is almost set but the offense needs the draft fast but agreed that there is too much gloom on here but yet again it's Finheaven.

I'm so happy we are fixing that defense. That was a big problem last year. lol

I also love how we will be finding our entire WR core besides Bess in this years draft. I don't know what I was thinking...how can this be a bad thing? Every rookie WR blows up his first season.

New coaching staff = new players

not really rocket science here!

Philbin wants a system, and that does not include over paying "star" FA's. He will draft wr's that fit his system just as GB has done. I guess you would prefer they over pay for an oft injured L.Robinson, or P.Garcon, or give an older B.Lloyd the next huge contract.

ireland is collaborating with Philbin for sure

Philbin- "man that guy is prepared, its nice to go to bed at night knowing....."

You don't drop off a probowler WR for nothing and also do nothing to fill it. Not upset about not overpaying L Robinson or the rest. Its going to be a real wake up call for Philbin and you Aqua colored glasses lovers when he goes from one of the best WR cores, to the worst. With Moore or Flynn instead of Aaron Rogers.

And just because its a new coaching staff, doesn't mean you get rid of productive players for nothing because they are not your guys.

GB's receivers grew into a great group of wr's, over time, through drafts, not a single off season. B.Marshall is being held at some high standard with zero results.... no big time catches when the game was on the line, no clutch TD catches, I don't get what the big deal is. BM was a major disappointment, he's an incident away from a suspension and making way to much money.

Philbin is the one who will want to do this the right way, and that's not buying a team in FA. Keep your own FA's, fill some needs with reasonable contracts and draft your future. The WR FA market is way to expensive for what your getting in return and the system Philbin runs does not have a need for a number 1. Nice to have but not a major need.

I'm glad at least one of the old heads at FH isn't a dumbass that just likes to **** on Ireland.

I am with you. Plus opening day is about 6 months away.

so many are upset about losing a head-case who was tied for 33rd in TDs

you may not have liked Marshall...but losing him not only leaves us with a hole at #1, which somehow he doesn't need even though his top 3/4 Wrs in GB were much better than what we have now.....but we need a solid #2 as we did before we got rid of Marshall. Not to mention Fasano is no Finley.

We are taking a huge step back creating more holes without filling any. After 2 losing seasons in a win now league...Ross will be pushing the issue to make a change again. And you will be telling me about the next guys plan to rebuild through draft.

I loved the Marshall trade at the time, I just don't see what impact he had with us that makes this trade such a bad one. I believe this hole is a small one because of the system Philbin wants to run. He will want a whack of versatile receivers that we can move around and get into match up problems.

Marshall wasn't a threat at WR that demanded a lot of double teams at times? With the amount of money and the quickness of FA WRs moving off the board we couldn't get more than 2 #3's? Not a bad trade? are you serious? You said yourself how amazed you are with the amount FA WRs are getting and how fast they are moving. We were robbed.

By the way, we've never had an abundance of WRs that have easily broke over 1000 yards over the years. Glad B Marsh is so easily replaced.

Philbin had GB's WRs....the top 3/4 they had are better than ANYTHING we have right now. How is this amazing system going to work as easily as you think with players that are not as good as the ones he is used to, with a QB not as good as Aaron?

When you have cancer you cut it out - and remember yor PB WR also won a trophy in Hawaii - amazing stuff - tghen made a back hand comment about his QBs

MORE TD DROPS THAN TDs - FACT - Not elite, not reliable, he has been on one winning team in the NFL - Not a winner - WE WERE ROBBED WE OVERPAYED IN THE FIRST PLACE
