Shula Come Back!
Formerly known as Saban in '06
...That's right!!! Predictions for the 2007 season! July is very slow for the NFL. The buzz after the draft is starting to wear off and pre season hasn't started yet. This is absolutely ridiculous and striclty for fun! This will change 989,095,230,125 times before the 2006 season even starts, nevermind 2007! The only logically thing I have to base it on is teams that need another year or two to make some noise! (plus I think the Dolphins can really win it all in another year!) This will be very funny to pull up after 2007 and see how crazy or eerily accurate some of these picks will be. We have no clue who will be drafted, who will be injured, who will be a bust, or who will be a star!!!Also, I put the records in just for fun, but they are estimates and I know they do not add up to 256 wins. If you think I'm going to try and be that accurate, you're crazy!! But without further ado, I present you with the 2007 NFL season:
AFC East
1. Miami Dolphins 13-3 (Culpepper and Ronnie with another year in this offense. All of Saban's young players reaching their peak-allen, crowder, daniels, etc. Zach and JT destined to win it all)
2. New England Patriots 10-6 (The domination of the afc east is long over, but as long as they have Brady and Belicheck they will always be playoff contenders.)
3. N.Y. Jets 6-10 (This is gonna piss some Jets fans off, but I will say this: This team will be a hell of a lot better than a 6 win team come the end of the season. The only reason for this record is because this will be Clemmens first full year as starter after he takes over for Pennington)
4. Buffalo Bills 4-12 (Again, only because they will have a new QB after death threats are made to everyone in the Buffalo organization if they keep Losman for one more year. They may have Brady Quinn or Troy Smith as a rookie this year. Damn this division is gonna be scary in 2008!)
AFC North
1. Cincinatti Bengals 13-3 (The offense is only gonna get better, but they will finally have some defense by now. Think Indy in 2005)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers 10-6 (The Superbowl is pretty far out of reach, but they still have way too much talent to not be contenders!)
3. Cleveland Browns 9-7 (They will play much better than a 9-7 team, but look at the division they're in..damn!!! Look for them in 2008!)
4. Baltimore Ravens 6-10 (Unfortunately Steve McNair will be older and more fragile. The running game will be sick though!)
AFC South
1. Indianaplois Colts 11-5 (Yes, Indy will win this division for one more season! The passing game will start to show symptoms of age which means it will only be in the top 5 instead of top 2)
2. Jacksonville Jaguars 10-6 (The Jags may be in this second place spot for a while, but they'll take over in 2008!)
3. Houston Texans 7-9 (The Texans will slowly start the climb upwards)
4. Tennessee Titans 6-10 (Young will play his first season as starter and show signs of greatness by mid season...again..2008)
AFC West
1. KansasCity Chiefs 10-6 (They will finally win the division over Denver!, but will it be with Green or Brodie Croyle? It won't matter much since they have LJ!)
2. Denver Broncos 9-7 (They will finally miss the playoffs only because Jay Cutler just took over for Plummer! 9-7 is not bad for a rookie season!)
3. San Diego Chargers 7-9 (This is hard to do not knowing anyhting at all about Rivers, but with Gates and LT, he can't be too bad!)
4. Oakland Raiders 5-11 (They will need more time to get their act together)
NFC East
1. Washington Redskins 11-5 (Joe Gibbs will have this team kicking on all cylinders even though some of the players are aging. Gibbs seems to like the old dudes!)
2. N.Y. Giants 10-6 (This will still be a very tight division. Their defense will get better and their offense already kicks ***. Manning will improve too. They would have a better record, but this still remains the tightest division in football)
3. Philadelphia Eagles 9-7 (tight division...would be better..blah blah blah, etc.)
4. Dallas Cowboys 6-10 (After Parcells retires again, Bledsoe will follow. There is still some talent on this team, but the loss of a coach and QB hurts a lot!)
NFC North
1. Chicago Bears 10-6 (They will be winning this division for a while, but look for them to actually make some noise in the playoffs!)
2. Detroit Lions 8-8 (They will be in this bubble for a while, but their offesne will light up the scoreboard from time to time)
3. Minnesota Vikings 8-8 (Same explanation as Detroit but without all the offense)
4. Green Bay Packers 4-12 (Bye Bye Favre and hello Rogers! He'll need sometime to adjust)
NFC South
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 12-4 (Simms is better, Cadillac is even better, their defense is kicking. This team is going places in 2007!)
2. Carolina Panthers 11-5 (I have them in second this year, only because they will finish first in 2006 and go to the Superbowl and it's tough to win back to back in this division!)
3. Atlanta Falcons 9-7 (Unfortunately, they will be stuck in this spot for a while, but Vick will start to improve as a passer)
4. New Orleans Saints 6-10 (Brees will be back to form, but this will be Bush's first full season at starting RB after holding out at the beginning of 2006 and then sharing carries with Deuce)
NFC West
1. Arizona Cardinals 10-6 (This will be the weak division in the NFL, but the Cards will win on all offense! Leinart, Edge, Fitzgerald, Boldin...lookout!!!)
2. Seattle Seahawks 9-7 (After losing SB XL and making a good run in 2006, this team will start to slow down.)
3. St. Louis Rams 8-8 (Give Linehan another year or two to put all the pieces together)
4. San Francisco 49ers 6-10 (They will still be the last place team, but Smith will now have two full season under his belt with Davis...could make a nice combo in...you guessed it...2008!!!!)
