They've given up so many big plays, "chunk yards" as Sparano puts it. I can see Brees throwing for 400 yards against us, but hopefully the pass rush can step up again after a great showing two weeks ago.

Are we missing the two overachievers from last year, Goodman and Hill? Haven't seen a full Broncos game but they're both contributing over there according to the stats, both have an INT each and Hill a FF.

Just a thought, don't bash me for it please!

i'd say it has less too do with the players we lost and more with the players we kept, underperforming. will allen has had some really bad steaks this year. the pass rush isn't coming like last season. and hill has been a massive disappointment so far.

Goodman was playing better than Allen from about midseason onwards. And Allen has regressed a little bit as well (might be hurt). So overall, our CBs are weaker than last year (right now - not talking about future potential). Smith has been good at times and Davis has been fine, but they frequently get lost or make other rookie mistakes. Nate Jones is Nate Jones. So overall, our CBs corps RIGHT NOW is worse than it was last year.

Our safeties on paper should be better. Wilson is clearly a better athlete and football player than Hill. Bell is Bell. But something is off there - might be scheme, or the fact that Bell and Wilson are clones, so we are completely missing a true FS.

It's quite clear our secondary right now is worse than last year. But there is much more talent and a much higher ceiling if they can just get their acts together (specifically the safeties - rooks will take time to develop). It might require some tweaks to the scheme, but I think they can do it.

Its more about the lack of pass rush. where are porter and taylor???

Other than the bills game, do we even have two sacks? I only remember 1, vs. peyton manning, where the RB totally blew his assignment and manning just purposely fell to the ground.

you can have the best CBs in the league, and Drew Brees will eat you alive if you dont find a way to get some pressure.

True - aside from Bills game, pass rush has been very mediocre. Should be much better given we have Porter and Taylor, but they've been mostly neutralized getting to the QB. However, it is true both have been more active in stuffing the run. Can't have it all I guess.

you guys are right, I forgot to mention the lack of pass rushing aspect but Wilson has been the biggest disappointment back there so far

Exactly what I was about to say. I don't even know what we should do differently to defend against him. Our pass rush is not like last years, the only way for us to succeed is by getting to Brees--That means bringing the kitchen sink all day in my opinion.

Worry about the pass rush, because if we don't get to Brees and let him make quality throws like Sanchez did at times last night, it won't matter how the secondary plays.

Dan Henning is going to have to come up with a miracle during the bye week. Something to keep the Saints off the field and keep the Dolphins scoring. If we get in a shootout with them like we did with the Jets in that fourth quarter, this game will be over quickly.

The only thing I am worried about in any friggin game is turnovers. That will kill us more than anything Brees does to us because these guys have no clue how to stop our O and it just got a helluva lot better with Henne and Ginn.

Not worried like most around here. Have some faith and trust your eyes. Henne is Joe Cool.

You've got to worry about the secondary against any quality QB but the Dolphins are in a very good scheduling spot against New Orleans, a home team coming off a bye and the Saints a week after facing the Giants.

I expect it to be like the Colts and Jets games, a spirited Miami effort that comes down to what Bill Belichick always says, who made a few more plays.

With Henne at QB at this early stage I think we'll be in trouble in road games against aggressive defenses. I'm not looking forward to the rematch with the Jets at all but I think we have a good shot against the Saints.

With good reason... I'd be worried you weren't worried about our secondary against Brees.

This game smells like Arizona last year. I don't like it much. But who knows? We weren't supposed to beat the Jets last night either.
