Look, I hate how mediocre the team has been since he started coaching, pisses me off, but I really don't know if there is a better option out there that actually improves this team that won't be there next year if Philbin fails (again).

I never once thought Harbaugh was coming here, I never even cared to begin with, IMO he's overrated as a head coach. No unproven guy is guaranteed to be anything more than Philbin and may be even worse. Nothing out there is a guarantee.

One thing I like is that Lazor and Hickey get another offseaon to coach and acquire talent to improve this team. Another full off season under this offense and the sky could be the limit. Lazor learning more about being a OC and Tannehill improving even more under the offense, and maybe get the chance to audible and run the hurry up more consistently. Lazor showed alot of great things this year, so has Tannehill and the whole offense besides the Oline, which is a dumpster fire outside of the LT and RT (when the LT is healthy). Getting rid of Philbin means Lazor would probably be gone too.

Hickey just please replace Hartline, that's all I ask. Please replace him.

Keeping Philbin will either be a fail or a success. 50/50 option.

Big off season coming up for this team.

I'm not torn it was a terrible Christmas present from Ross! Reminds me of Christmas Day when I read on ESPN ticker that Wanny was extended!

I'm torn as well, both make valid points. Im happy for stability yet want to win the games we need and play 4 qtr s. Anyone think big Dan had input in this?

That's how I felt at first too, then I thought about it.

Coaches get to much blame and credit for their teams performance. Better players make better coaches.

This is a mistake to keep philbin. He's not a head coach. He not a leader. Players are held accountable but not coaches? This is just pathetic

Philbins lack of emotion and his use of TO's drives me nuts. His eyes are set to close together.
Ross made his decision.
Nothing can be done except for hope for the best.

Not much you can do about it!

lets hope the necessary personnel changes are made and we have a successful draft and FA season. Like it or not, Philbin is our guy so let's get on board and enjoy the ride.

The worst part for me is, that I have nothing to really look forward to. I have no faith in Philbin leading this team because he's not a leader of men.

I don't expect anything from this team next year. I actually expect a slight regression.

I actually don't think Ross likes real men and wants pansies and geeks running things. Both Hickey and Philbin have that geek personality. Can't stand listening to them talk.

I just had the ride. Didn't enjoy it.

Another year of Philbin with Tannehill will make the Dolphins good, but I don't think they will ever make the Fins great. For those that lived through the end of the Shula years and Jimmy and Dave's coaching regimes, it was very frustrating being good, but not great. We would be close to the playoffs or make it in, but get bounced early. You never got the good draft picks in those years, but were "good" year after year. Is that what we want?

I can agree Hickey has earned another season, but Philbin's coaching cost us 2 games. He almost cost us the game today with his stupid squib kick when we went up 28-20, and his team quit on him in the 2nd half of the New England game. We can't win with this guy. I don't think I can take another season of, "they deserve to win".

I'm not torn, not happy about it. But there's hope when looking at the Cowboys. Jason Garrett, the retard puppet he is didn't make the playoffs for 3 years and now his team looks great in his 4th year. He surrounds himself with great coaches and they can win in spite of him. If we fire Coyle, even just promoting Duffner, I think with Lazor growing and some of the positional coaches the team can still win. It's not because of Philbin though, and I've been saying since last offseason the recipe for success is surrounding him with great football minds. He's done a good job getting the right guys, hopefully he's learnt from the Sherman experience and cans Coyle.

See I don't get this. If grown ass men need motivation to go make plays then there useless as football players.

That's the most overused statement around.

I hope Philbin does great and I am proven completely wrong about him and about Ross. I don't think retaining Philbin is the right move, but, if the Dolphins become a perennial playoff team and a threat to win the Super Bowl as a result being patient with him, I'll be happy.

Meh Philbin is just a pedestrian coach Average Joe

My faith in the direction this team is going has hit a gigantic brick wall. I am truly sad to see this team have another mediocre year under this current regime. I honestly have nothing else left to say I'm truly speechless.

Only thing somewhat good about this is that Lazor will stay and Tannehill can grow under his tutelage.
