Do you deny that Miami needs somebody to learn the system behind Gus? Are you counting on a trade for a veteran QB or for the team to keep AJ even though he is overpaid and for him to eventually figure out whatever he hasn't so far?
I don't deny that we've got a space open...though it is possible (tho unlikely) that Sage Rosenfels could actually turn out decent in this offense, considering it really plays to the strengths he showed in college (vertical passing, lots of QB movement, with a strong-armed gunner needed).
Still, all of this QB hunting among the college ranks and willingness to accept even the lowliest of low college QBs (guys who no doubt will be 6th or 7th round picks) as our "future" at the position, it is a testament to our current QB talent.
If we had better QB play over the last year or so, our expectations for a college QB would be higher. People would find themselves saying Leinart or Young or Jacobs, and that is probably about it...otherwise they wouldn't care all that much who the "developmental" guy is because he's just a clipboard holder anyway. As things stand now we've got an army of bandwagons that include Matt Leinart, Omar Jacobs, Vince Young, Sam Keller, Jay Cutler, Drew Stanton, Chris Leak, D.J. Shockley, Charlie Whitehurst, Bruce Gradkowski, Reggie McNeal, Marcus Vick, Steve Pinegar, Drew Tate, Brian Brohm, Chad Henne, and now Brodie Croyle...and I'm sure I've missed probably about 5 more guys. Got news for ya, if each of these guys declared for the draft, a good many of them will go in the 6th or 7th round...if at all. Yet they've got a bandwagon for becoming the dolphins future at the position.
