i post on alot of dolphins boards and as most of you know i've been a wanny hater and basher from day 1. however, i have to say after what i saw saturday that there is hope for this season and i think dave might be coming around. HE BENCHED JAY. DAVE FINALLY BENCHED JAY. and he did it during a game no less. that is a big deal fin fans. that is not wanny's MO. i think dave finally realized his old fashioned approach isnt going to work and is willing to make some adjustments. the bengirls game this week will reflect that and i think we will rock cinncy sunday night.

This is the exact point I was trying to make. Everyone wants to blame Dave for the team's failures. After 5 or so years, if Wannstedt was really to blame, guys like JT and ZT would be calling him out. He made a tough call to bench a QB mid game and you have to give him credit.

Who do you want to blame for the team's failures? I certainly hope it isn't a three letter name that starts with a "J" and ends with a "y".

I agree, if the players didn't like him, they would speak up. All that matters is what his players think of him!

i dont think there is any doubt that it's not all jay's fault. however, i dont think there is any doubt about how bad jay sucks either.

Absolutely. The guy can't win the big games - Oakland in '99, New England last two years, Minnesota in 2002. Fiedler has all the heart, but he doesn't have the talent to be a winner against the best teams. He can beat the 9-7 and 8-8 teams, but he doesn't show up against the best. And you can also blame the lack of a solid offensive line the past year and a half.

I just want to point out that if DW is a good coach because he has the confidence of the players, that means by extension that Jay was a good QB because he had the confidence of DW and from what I have heard in the past, the players.

I agree that there is no doubt that Jay doesn't have the type of skills we want in a starting QB. If that is what you mean by sucks, I can accept that. If there was derogatory intent meant by the choice of the word "sucks", I do take issue with that.

So...Jay gets the blame because he doesn't have talent, but Dave gets a pass for being the coach/gm who is utterly incapable of either realizing this or doing something about it?

14 penalties, sloppy play and a last minute decision that Jay Fiedler is our best chance to win. Some one will have to explain to me how this is not the headcoach's fault.

Everyone is quick to bash DW. But get another look at it.

He has nothing to do with the Front Office stuff of the off-season.

He has nothing to do with the Ogunleye hold-out and the crap Rosenhaus was causing on the team.

He hasn't pointed the finger at any player - he takes the heat for everything.

He has never played the blame game with any players on the team.

His Offensive Star walked away from the team. He has yet to say one bad word about him.

How would Jimmy Johnson have behaved? What kind of tirade would he have thrown?

Wannestedt has been trying to keep the boat from rockin', even though there have been some big waves hitting our ship.

He doesn't want to play anything through the media. He wants to remain loyal to his guys. He's brought in some good coaches (like Trestman).

He has had some obstacles thrown his way - from having to be the heavy on the Marino situation, to cutting Daryl Gardner. He's tried to bring in other options for QB over the years. Notice how Damon Huard isn't starting on any other team...

He's tried to maintain steadiness and a cool head with everything that's been going on.

I admit that I also get frustrated - especially with the Offense - especially last year.

He's coaching for his job and he knows it. We'll see what happens next week.

His approach to coaching is falling on deaf ears. We've all seen this for now 5 years. The way the Dolphins played on Saturday was atrocious. Now after a loss that may have been avoided if AJ had started, we'll see what this offense can do. But I can tell you one thing this boring same old same old by DW is getting worse and worse every year.

it takes 4 yrs, 1 Half & 2 INT's to finally realize you have to make adjustments?? How many times have i heard this?? hit the search button and you'll see what im talking about...

Are you serious?? ...the last thing you would want is for the players to call out their own coach, it would be very unprofessional and you'd basically be burning your own bridges down...JT & ZT have class...wait till Wanny is gone, then you'll hear what they really got to say...that's buisness in the NFL.
