i post on alot of dolphins boards and as most of you know i've been a wanny hater and basher from day 1. however, i have to say after what i saw saturday that there is hope for this season and i think dave might be coming around. HE BENCHED JAY. DAVE FINALLY BENCHED JAY. and he did it during a game no less. that is a big deal fin fans. that is not wanny's MO. i think dave finally realized his old fashioned approach isnt going to work and is willing to make some adjustments. the bengirls game this week will reflect that and i think we will rock cinncy sunday night.
This has been a tumultous offseason by all accounts. Still, as a HC, Wanny MUST be able to make the best of a rotten situation, and make proactive decisions to help this team win. Needless to say, hes not doing that. Instead, hes showering us with a sorry wave of excuses and lip-service that reaks of being unnaccountable for your actions.
Case in point: Ricky left the team in July. Wanny KNEW we would eventually trade for a replacement RB. Knowing that a late RB addition would create even more lockerroom ruccous and unfamilarity, Wanny should been proactive in finding other ways to help the team gel. For this reason alone, he shoud have selected a starting QB at the BEGINING of camp, enabling new recruits like Booker and Feeley get on the same page, not to mention vets like Chambers and McMike. After all, Feeleys been on the team since March. Bookers been here for a month. Its not like these guys joined the team last week like Gordon.
So I dont buy the whole "our guys havent played enough together" argument. Thats an excuse for losers and apologists. They ONLY reason they havent played more together because Wannys is fixated with the idea of an open QB competition, when the last thing we needed was more uncertainty at key skill positions. Especially when one of the participants has had four years to prove himself, and by all accounts, has failed to impress.
This, my friends, is poor leadership from a head coach - and whether we believe it or not, it trickles down to the coaching staff and players as well. I dont blame Fiedler for not being able to carry this team on his back. Its not his fault; he's simply not talented enough. However, I do hold Wanny accountable for failing to make this team better prepared to win games.
And if we dont win next week vs Cincinatti, my guess is that Wayne gives Wanny the axe.
