I'm a professional communications major at my college and my school puts alot of emphasis on communication in the world of sports. I am also taking several writing classes where I put a major emphasis on the world of sports.
Anyways, for one of my classes next semester I have to write a book. It doesn't have to be War and Peace or Lord of the Rings, but it is expected to be 200 or so pages. I've decided to write it on the Patriots Dolphins rivalry and more specifically my experiences in the rivalry by growing up in Massachusetts as a die hard Dolphins fan. I have alot to talk about from the numerous Dolphins Pats games I've attended at Foxborro to some of the classic games between the two.
However, I want to put some old school history in my book as well. I only started following football when I was 11 years old. Ironically, my first ever game was a Dolphins Pats game. It was the first game of the 94 season and Marino's first game back from his injury when he threw 5 touchdown passes and beat the Pats in the final minutes.
Now I know there is almost 30 years of history before that time between these two teams. I would like to mention some of it in my book but I don't really know any of it. The only two games I'm really aware of are the snowplow game and the 85-86 AFC championship game loss. So my question to you older fans, where can I find some good information about the old history between these two teams? Any help and input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Talking about the earlier years, Steve Grogan was always the backup QB no Dolphin fan wanted to see enter the game, he just played well against us.

To me one of three worst Dolphin losses in history was that 1985 AFC Championship game, we were the only team that beat the vaunted Chicago Bears that year and it should have been the Dolphins facing the Bears in Superbowl XX, it was the last game in the Orange Bowl, a place where Miami was normally so hard to beat, it was Marino's chance to avenge the Dolphins loss the prior year in Superbowl XIX, and with all that going for them they laid an egg, fumbled tha ball like 5 or 6 times and lossed, the Patriot went on to get embarrassed in the Superbowl where I think Miami would have given them a much better game.

It was almost like the curse of leaving the Orange Bowl that still hasn't gone away to this day.

i think the rivalry is going to take a turn because for the first time miami has a couch who knows the style of belichik, saban is his brain child. they no each others style, this series just got better.

I don't think Saban is Belichek's brainchild.

i think the series deff jut did get better, were not gunna dominate them and their not gunna dominate us, everygame will come down to the wire or will be a hard faughtgame from now on i believe, both teams have two smart coaches...
