I've still been playing catch up with the NFL draft. For me, it's a month-long event--kinda like March Madness was for college hoops. It's not something I look at year 'round.

I just don't think that most teams are going to want to trade up to the second overall pick. Teams like Dallas, Minnesota, and San Diego have too many needs to fill and there isn't a John Elway to be had.

However, having said that, the Eagles at 31 with five picks in the first three rounds are still a Super Bowl contender on paper (assuming they haven't lost anyone to free agency that I know of). They can afford to trade up big time to land the top wide receiver in the draft. This is probably their biggest need, as we all remember what happened when Terrell Owens got injured.

On the other hand, the Dolphins have many holes to fill. Like it or not, we are rebuilding, and the more picks we have, if used properly, the more holes we could fill. I am proposing as a possible trade the Dolphins second overall pick for the Eagles five picks in the first three rounds. This might sound spectacular, but I think it is quite possible.

It would be interesting if Philly returned our original second-round pick, and we then used it to draft a QB like Charlie Frye!

Pipe dream. Don't think they would ever do that.

That would be great, but unfortunately for us, Mike Ditka is not running the draft for Philly. And Philly didn't get to where they are now by making wild trades like the one proposed. I admire your daring, but that's close to delusional. No offense intended...:D

dont forget we have a 3rd rd pick so that would give us a total of 6 pick.
But....its not gonna happend!!!

Yeah. I sorta forced the deal. But, then, I just can't see us getting out of the number 2 spot. It's simply not worth trading up for. :(

Great post. Even if it never happens, its a very interesting and intriguing concept. To fortify your statement, I also read that the Eagles are looking to trade Corey Simon to the Ravens for second and third round picks.

That will give the Eagles even MORE picks in the first day - which has to make you believe they are going to move up at least once in the first round. Maybe not all the way up to #2, but they will likely trade up to secure a player they covet. Keep in mind that Phili has done this twice in the last few years - trading up in round one to draft Jerome Mcdougle and Shawn Andrews.

Something to keep an eye on.

wow i think my mock does something like that! I like that idea alot Mr. Original Poster guy!

Oh wait nevermind i have 6 picks in the 1st 3 rds. Yep works for me. Depth>1 star. Get away form that star system; its been in place here long enough.

Eagles are too smart to do that (Fave NFC team and 2nd fav overall next to Fins). They'll try out the BPA or the best WR available with their picks. Anytime the Eagles GM wants to come over to Miami, he's got my confidence! To me, we just need to fill QB, RB, S, possibly CB and LB and we have enough picks to get good players at those spots.
