That leaves us as to what is going to transpire in the offseason. We all know that chad johnson is a kind of cancer BUT wouldn't you be if you played for the bengals? I mean takeo spikes had his moments in cincy but was good for buffalo when he left.

Me personally, johnson is the kind of talent we need on this team and TS and PB are the kinds of people who MAY be able to offer him an incentive laiden contract and be able to turn his attitude around. Like chad or not but when he is not being a whiny little girl, he is one of the top widouts in football and should have 3-4 years left in him.

Add ted ginn opposite him as our number 2 with camarillo as our number 3 and bess rotating in and out in the slot and we could very well have something there. The only downfall is that chad may not be able to get the balls out deep enough for the ginn/johnson combination. That leaves henne to carry the clipboard another year which is invaluable it seems for rookie and 2nd year qb's in the NFL.

I know it is probably a madden pipe dream but if they could tame his antics I would write him up a contract full of incentives with a decent base salary and verbage that allows separation if he acts up. Like it or not, he is done in cincy. You don't want the pats getting him or a team like buffalo or the jets??

A pickup like that would allow us to definitely spend our picks on OLB, SS, FS and corner as well as another o-lineman. This also would allow us to rehab greg slowly and bring him along. Ginn may never be a true number one but he could hone in his return skills and him as a number two. You just can't pass up true talent in the nfl and johnson is WHEN he is in the right situation. My gut feeling is that he may end up in philly though...

Just thinking a bit tonight....

Why trade for Chad Johnson when T.J. Houshmandzadeh is expected to hit the free agent market. I would rather sign Houshmandzadeh over Johnson.

I don't know if Johnson is as big of a cancer as everyone treats him. The guy was a gamer and he is having a bad season, but so is an entire Bengals team. He's a vocal guy and thus he is labeled as a cancer when a team is hitting a rough patch.

Do you really think BP would go after a problem reciever after he ran right the hell away from one in Dallas.

I don't mean to come off as being harsh but this question is getting old.

We are trying to rebuild this football team and go forward and at this point Chad Johnson would be a big step backwards.

In reality CJ is a good WR but his mouth and his selfish attitude just take all the positives away.

No thanks!

I think a more appropriate title would be "How good could we be with a bon-a-fide center and/or RG" because our pass offense is pretty good as it is without a #1. If you add a consistant running game then were a great offense. Not sure on our exact rank but with our running game not as good I would think we are not a top 10 offense but if you add that then we are.

or

What about having a bon-a-fide defense?

My problem with this Nublar is that TJ will be 32 years old at the start of next season. He is going to want big money and I'm not a big fan of laying a pile of cash in front of a guy who will only be in the league for a few more seasons.
I understand he has been a late bloomer but that bothers me. It's late.

Let's just save the money and develop young talent.

We already have a mouth in Joey. Just don't think that Chad Johnson is worth the grief his whining will bring. I used to think the guy was funny, but now he's nothing more than a distraction and not worth the money he'll be asking for.

The Dolphins didn't lose because of lack of offense on Sunday, and they've been producing fairly well offensively all season long, so I'm not sure that this assertion holds water.

The Dolphins scored 28 points and generated 341 passing yards on Sunday, so why are you thinking about a "bonafide No. 1 wideout?"

I don't see chad johnson in the same light as Owens. Johnson has played for one team and really hasn't been that bad. Imagine how bad T.O. would have been if he had played in cincy? I am not going to write johnson off yet especially when we haven't seen what he has done on another team.

He will not be in cincy next year and to get T.J. , your going to have to give up what a 2 number 1's because he is going to be tagged.

My thinking is that one or two really good wideouts are touted yearly but maybe one every 3 years seems to be a really good one. I think it is easier to find good solid d-backs in the draft later than finding that gamebreaking wideout.

Trust me, I understand where your coming from but it isn't like like johnson is 36 years old and a shell of his former self. It is obvious he wants out of cincy but in reality he hasn't been that bad. He is going somewhere and I think we have the coaching system in place to deal with guys who want to act up. We will see how hardnosed bill and tony are with what happened with joey last game.

Because parcells is going to address the defense in the offseason. That is a given. How well did our wideouts do against the raiders, denver, seattle, etc etc. You can't use that argument just drawing on the last game.

I think everyone who has followed football and bill parcells knows the d is going to come together. I am thinking from the standpoint of getting a tried and proven commodity, which if he is put into the right situation and healthy, could single handedly transform the offense into a completely different dimension. This is especially true if ginn continues to emerge.

Lastly, we don't know how camarillo is going to heal. That adds another variable here. It is painfully obvious that the wilford experiment is all but over. That leaves ginn to emerge in his 3rd year as a true standout number 2 at least and bess who doesn't have the height to be anything more than a slot wideout.

Yes when he emerges, he is our #1 for now and later, we need to adress he DB's not WR's, even another run stopping LB is more important than another WR

Houz is older than CJ. And we have enough possession receivers IMO.

I am not so sure he will. He is still very raw. He is showing signs of getting better and adding a new regime every year isn't helping but there is no guarantee that he will ever be anything better than a number 2. I sure hope he emerges but man is he still raw. He still was holding the ball out wide from his body when he runs. It is like he is still trying to soley rely on his speed which is a given in the college ranks but technique trumps all in the nfl. Just ask the patriots secondary in their superbowl years. Nothing too stellar but man they were fundamentally sound.

IMO, a rookie wideout gets 3 years to prove his worth, especially one drafted in the top ten. He is coming along but if he isn't a 80-1100-10 guy next year and showing flashes of being a gamebreaker, I am not sure he ever will.

Again it is easy to sit here and question the defense because of the last game and breakdowns all year but we all know that is going to be addressed. However, the last thing I want to turn into is the 2000 baltimore ravens all the while not being able to score more than 10 points a game.

Regardless, I am content with what we have but a true gamebreaking number one would be oustanding and could help ginn emerge as well. We haven't had one since mark clayton...

CJ had a fight in the locker room with WR coach Hue Jackson in the biggest game the Bengals have seen in 20 years. He thought he didn't get enough touches. Sound familiar. You really want that in the locker room.

He is the same guy as TO to me.

I bet Bill Parcells feels the same way.
