Brees did such a great job getting Gates involved last season. Think about the # of balls thrown McMichaels way if we get Brees.

Agreed. McMichael should have breakout season if we get Brees. And Brees should have another breakout season with the recievers he's working with.

While McMichael is every year set to have a breakout season our system has always slowed him down. Last year he was having that kind of season until Chambers, Ricky, Ronnie and Booker started producing at a high level. Brees is every tight ends dream quarterback. I consider McMichael right up there with Gates, Gonzo and Crumpler. He is an elite tight end and this year it will show

I think our system runs him on too many little patterns it's time to send that monster down field.

As long as you stick with Linehans system. Mularkeys system rarely involves his TE's.

I think were getting a little carried away, Mcmichael seems to fade away during the year, he also appears to get tired, sloppy, I don't think he's quite the caliber that Gates is. Quite simply Gates is a much better overall TE.

IMO Mcmichael has lapses in concentration, ie, the fumble v New England, and drops many easy passes. He plays with a lot of heart.

Let's forget that it wasn't until 2 years ago that Bree's came around, argueably because of the arrival of Gates, and improvements at the offensive line position.

He looked terrible 3 years ago, he lost his starting job to flutie at 1 point.

So while i think Bree's would be an upgrade, he needs to have a strong offensive line in front of him to do so. He is an improvement over what we have. So if we are going to nab him this year, I expect to see us go after a OL in the 1st round, probably LT.

Which is Ironic since he played tight end.

i guess he wasn't that good.

despite mcmichael's inconsistencies, he's still a good weapon to have on the field, even if not catching the ball. he can create a great mismatch over the middle and it's something the defense will always have to be ready for.

Your wrong about that. Mularkey loves using the TE's. He used them a lot when he was in Pittsburgh. I don't know why you think he doesn't use the tight ends.

McMike will be on my fantasy team next year if we get Brees :)

First we have to hope that he doesn't celebrate "Beat Down my Wife" day like he does every summer.
