After seeing him work this weekend i see the Ronnie brown we saw last year. We saw explosiveness POWER downhill motivated running. He is the starter from here out no doubt.

But now that he seems to be back in form i have Ronnie as the 4th best ALL AROUND running back in the NFL....Here are my rankings and reasons you can say biased all you want but i believe it

1. LT-No brainier game changer you have to practice for a week to game plan for him alone 70% of LT is better than 98% of the league

2. AP- Strong mean runner always downhill. Ok hands great in space no stop motor just an animal.

3. Brian Westbrook- leads the world in all purpose yards most year great hands good elusive runner amazing in space just a playmaker

4. RONNIE BROWN- Power runner can make you miss breakout speed and a great blocker. Great hands very good in space get lots of YAC and now he can run an offense and THROW haha

5. Joseph Addai- may be a surprise here but a very good all around back. Blocks runs catches ultimate team player clots may be struggling but Addai is a huge part of that O

Why some arent on the list IMO....in no particular order

Lynch- pretty good elusive but i dont know much about his blocking and catching coudl be great. Needs to finish some runs and stop trying to make guys miss

Bush- Great hands but just an ok runner in the NFL awesome in space but not the best between the tackles could improve his blocking

Portis- Great back, blocks runs hard but really doesn't have many moves more of a 4-6 yards and get tackled. doesn't scare me when he touches the ball

Turner- eh haven't seen much from him...can be great or can be average during games. Good number so far as a starter but haven't seen the all around part of him (blocking, catching, running)

LJ- power back not many moves...tired just plain tired he runs a ton doesn't catch much and seeing how bad the KC qb's are getting hurt DOESN'T BLOCK

Parker- great back great runner...not big in their passing game and pretty good blocker. probably just outside the top 5

McFadden- DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH 3 games so far the Oakland SUCKS

MB III- Ok this may be the biggest point of contention amazing power runner good blocker and can catch but that offense has so many weapons his catching skills haven't been able to be showcased anyway again probably 6 on the list

Edge- great runner catches some good blocker just isn't elite anymore

Gore- Great runner, i don't know about his hands i guess is is an ok blocker good but not elite

Jags Rb's- both have skill sets not great all around backs
NY Giants rb's- again all together they are great but none is an elite all around back
Titians rb's- White is power and Johnson is speed but again neither is an all around guy

If he can stay healthy for a full season and continue the level of production that he has when he STARTS a game and gets significant touches, then yes, i agree. Officially though, until he plays a full-season and stays healthy he's probably not better than a guy like Portis or something who is pretty much guaranteed to give you x amount of starts and x amount of yards.

yeah Marion Barber and Portis were tough to keep out of the top 5 but MB3 is right there and protis just doesn't fit the 4 yards power running game he is a zone blocking with lots of space kinda guy...i know he blocks but their receiving is where they fall behind Ronnie, Ronnie is a big part of our passing game

Steven Jackson is a top five back. He's just on a really bad team right now with no o-line

As much as i dislike the cowboys i think that Felix Jones might make your list next year... still early for him now but he has all the toolsto be a great one and a steal where they grabbed him

Jackson is good but what about his blocking and receiving. i think he is a very good receiver so show probably be in the top five probably replace Addai i seriously think Ronnie is in the top 5 put him where you want but he is in there

I think i'd put Jackson ahead of Ronnie also. Imagine if he was playing for the Cowboys like he should have been (they drafted Julius Jones instead).

I dont agree with that, our team last year had a bad OL and while Ronnie was healthy he was having a great year. In 2002 when we traded for Ricky, our OL was horrible but he still won the rushing title. The Falcons OL isnt that good and Michael Turner is of to a great start. The OL does help you become a great back, but I really think that Steven Jackson is over rated.

Ronnie is not a top five back until he proves it and this far he has proven he can be very good in spurts.

As much as it pains me, I must agree with dlockz.

You can't proclaim Brown a top 5 back until he proves that he can produce at a high level for a full season (if not 2 or 3 seasons).

And I don't even mean a full 16-game season (it's rare for backs to play every game ever year). Just give me 14-16 games a year with 1500 total yards and double digit touchdowns, then we can start to throw his name in there with guys like LT and Westbrook, etc...

Wow it pains u to agree with me. Hmm over the years with the exception of the signing of Pep I have been pretty damn correct with my takes. I just dont let my fan shades impeded my judgement like some on this board. I would like anybody to go and point out my many takes that were so off base. I love how if I dont see Ronnioe as a top when any self respecting football person would not rank Ronnie that high or even close.

its impossible to really rank runningbacks. AP is better then tomlinson, but tomlinson has better tools.

He may not be top 5 but he is top 10.

This year-

Ronnie Brown

34 carries - 161 yards - 4.7 average - 5 TD's

LaDanian Tomlinson

57 carries - 190 yards - 3.3 average - 2 TD's

Last year after 6 games Ronnie Brown had more rushing yards than Tomlinson, a better average than Tomlinson, and had more receiving yards.. And before people talk about the level of competition, Tomlinson had his best 3 games (of the first 6 games of the season) against Kansas City, Oakland and Denver (not the best run defenses in the NFL either).

Of Tomlinson's first 11 games last season, in 9 of them he had less than 100 rushing yards.. The only 2 games where he got more than 100 yards was against Kansas City and Oakland.

Remember that Tomlinson has had the benefit of being in a division where every other team in the division has had crappy run defenses.. And he faces those teams twice a year, to his benefit.

The only question with Ronnie Brown is health.. If he stays healthy he can be as (or more) productive than Tomlinson.. Belichick said last year that Ronnie Brown has the talent level to be the most productive back in the NFL. And he was right.

Great research and i completely agree. RB can be a top 5 RB and IMO he is #3. I think hes better than BW, and right behind AP and LT.

Well it's a good thing that you're not full of yourself and your opinions ; )

It's also good to know that you've only been wrong once in your life as far as the Dolphins are concerned.

I'll make sure to point out when your takes are wrong, with or without your fan shades.
