Ginn has to face the facts, this is his third year and by this time, the good nfl wideouts start to break out. Now it isn't like he hasn't had a decently productive first 2 seasons in an offense that really has had serious issues at times. However Ginn is very similar IMO to another wideout we had here in chris chambers. Chris would show up in some games and then be completely shut out of others. The difference IMO between him and Ginn is that chambers made big plays, although he would drop balls too..

Now, he also has to swallow the tough criticisms he is taking right now. Yes he had a good game against the colts but when it really mattered, he never stepped out when it mattered. 10+ catches is good an all but we need him to be a play maker, not only in the scheme of the game in general but really when the game is on the line. He failed and twice in that game IMO. However we know that already and no need to rehash the fan bases hurt feelings.

However, Ginn MUST have a breakout game against SD. Why? Because if these criticisms of him being taken too high and some people even questioning if he can be a number one...especially on the dolphins, are not eating his soul like a 5 alarm fire, then this kid is hopeless.

Ginn must have a breakout game this week as pennington and the coaching staff must really be questioning privately whether he has what it takes. He must also be really taking a hard look in the mirror.....this assumes he WANTS to take it to the next level. If not, he is nothing more than a solid number 2 or 3. The dolphins are going to have make a choice at some point. While it is very early and the light bulb may eventually come on at some point in the season, it is do or die time for Ginn IMO. If not we had better really look at taking a WR if one is available high in the draft. I am talking about one of the top flight ones. The problem that is such a crapshoot and one of the hardest positions to acclimate to the game.

None of us have any idea what the coaching staff really thinks of Ginn, and what us fans think of him means absolutely nothing. The thought that this one game is make or break for him is almost laughable too. If he only has 2 catches for 15 yards but has a bunch of good games after that and puts up pro bowl numbers then will that still mean he sucks because he didn't have a monster game vs. San Diego? On the other side of it, if Ginn puts up 200+ recieving yards then sucks the rest of the season should the F/O offer him a contract extension? How about at the end of the season we look back and see how well he did instead of defining his season in week 3.

I disagree. With all the flak he is taking right now, if he isn't pumped up to come out and "prove" that he was worth his spot in the draft, then I will question his heart and desire big time. It isn't about having a monster game. Numbers don't mean anything. Ask dan marino about numbers....

What I am referring to is that if he comes out against SD and we see typical Ginn (afraid to make contact, indecisive, unable to stretch the field, etc) I won't put much stock into him as a wideout anymore or at least a someone who is number one material. A good portion of football is about emotion and others feeding off of it. If we lose and the dolphins stare 0-5 in the face or worse, the desire and will to really make a push will be lost IMO. I did state that he could improve dramatically during the rest of the season....

This is my personal feeling on this. Ginn needs to show up in some capacity on Sunday. If I were him, I damn well know that I would be hungry as anything to prove that I wasn't a wasted first round draft pick.

Ginn has never been unable to stretch the field, nearly every deep pass you see get thrown to him he's got his man beat but the pass is underthrown. But anyway, I see what you're saying but I just don't think this game defines him or anyone else as a player no matter how you look at it. If it does though then this is a make or break game for a lot of players..... Gibril Wilson, and Anthony Fasano have both played much worse than Ginn and if they don't step up this game are they written off too?

It doesn't matter as much for them because Fasano is NOT the answer at TE, nor is Wilson the answer at Safety. Both are stop gaps IMO.

However as high as we took Ginn, he better have something to prove. If Ginn gets released, it will just keep reinforcing the horrible draft history of the Miami Dolphins for the past decade +.

I admitted in my original post that he may get better as time goes on but history is hedging against it. Did he make strides from last year, YES! However he is NOT anywhere near where we need him to be. He needs to be the leader and step out from the rest of the wideouts. IMO, he is no better than bess or camarillo.

I'll be at the game...and I guarantee I'll be p*ssed by the end of the 1st! I'm betting 3 'critical' drops at least for Teddy No-Game ((btw, anybody seen Patrick "Milk Carton" Turner anywheres...never hear about him even being at practice))

He will have the entire season to prove himself. But if it's the same Ginn, I can see Miami trading him. He just doesn't play aggressive or strong enough for his position. You have to want the ball more than the person you're lining up against. I am kind of tired of these type of WR's. We dealt with Chambers for too long to get consistency and it never happened, I hope we don't wait too long for Ginn.

He's on pace for over 1000 yards and so far people are not happy with him. Let him play the whole year and then let's talk.

Ginn is not ready to be a number one. He showed it in the Colts game. He has the ability to change the game but rarely does. Wasted pick. Did we or did we not pass on Patrick Willis in that draft? I mean I understand passing on Quinn but Willis not so sure.

who cares about draft history or draft status? it is what it is (was). it's not Ginn's or any current coach's fault that he was taken at #9. instead of worrying what you didn't pick, take what you have a make it work. if he is a "stretch-the-field" #2 let him be that and get the #1 when you can. that's why people wanted Anquan Boldin so much. a tall, physical, possession WR (along with a certain strong-armed QB) teamed with Ginn would be a very strong combo.
imo, Ginn has steadily improved from day one and I believe Sunday was arguably his best game yet. let's see what he does over the course of the entire season, not just three games.

I understand what your saying but personally I care very much about miami's draft history. Why? Because you build a superbowl contender through the draft first and is the main reason why we are where we are or have been the past decade. There was a staggering figure ( I don't have it handy) about miami's past drafts within the decade and the vast majority of those players are not even in the NFL anymore. That speaks volumes and again is very much the reason why we are where we are.

I'll take that bet! How much would you like to wager and what form of payment will you be sending me? I accept paypal, money orders, and food stamps.

I care too, but history is written and there is nothing we can do to change it. on the field you see first round picks lining up against undrafted free agents. it doesn't matter how they got there, only if they can contribute to a win.
so many people seem to think Ginn has to be something or do something just because Cam Cameron picked him 9th overall. would they love him if he was picked at #40 or #60? for me, the bottom line is that he has a large amount of talent and he continues to improve. that is all I would ask of any player. why hate him because of Cameron the idiot?
