I believe that our wildcat is so successful because we have two stud running backs in Ronnie Brown & Ricky Williams.

They're both 230 lbs, have 4.4 speed, pro bowlers, 1st round draft picks, who run with elite power & speed.

No other NFL team has that kind of RB tandem.

And we won't have that kind of RB tandem forever.

So it is perfectly conceivable that after 2010, Ricky retires, and the wildcat fades away.

But in the meantime, while we still have the R&R express, we should run the wildcat down the throats of our opponents.

The wildcat will only work for as long as we have the personnel to run it. That is and has always been the case.

Yeah but hopefully by the time Ricky retires Henne will have developed into the kind of quarterback that can balance the run by himself.

you know what, I think Muhammad Ali was a fad. He was 6'3" 210 lbs in his prime with lightning quick reflexes. I think that once he retired we all saw the rope-a-dope didn't work as well. /sarcasm off

Hmmmm. I wonder why the following tandems don't run the Wildcat?

Adrian Peterson/ Chester Taylor
Deangelo Williams/ Jonathan Stewart
Turner/Norwood
LT/Sproles
Johnson/White
Jacobs/Bradshaw
Addai/Brown
Forte/Jones
Taylor/ Morris
Barber/Jones

Maybe it's more of the COACHING? (Of course RB/RW are GREAT, but they have equal tandems in the league)

Even If ,in the future Defenses figure it out and it goes away, Dolphins have potential to be a great offense putting together any kind of gameplan...
Our Offense is Very young (avg age 24??) and just gonna get better....

So I'm not worried in the least, and gonna enjoy the ride

I've wondered this too. People keep saying you have to have the right personnel, but it just seems like an empty statement. It's not like we have something that no other teams have. Ronnie and Ricky are great, but like you're getting at, if we had AP and Chester Taylor, would the Wildcat suck? I doubt that. The Dolphins are more successful at it because they've committed to it.

None of those tandems have two pro bowl RBs that are 230+ lbs, with 4.4 speed.

I would not trust AP to take direct snaps out of the WC. He fumbles WAY too much.

Ricky's a great running back but I have to believe a guy like Lex Hilliard or a future RB can take over the load.

As long as we have Ronnie taking the snaps and a great offensive line I think the Wildcat will work effectively.

Fad?? Yeah, now that we have blocking its a BIG Fad!!:hump:

Who cares what may or may not happen in the future? We are winning right now with the offense we run....it's just like the people who worry about whether Parcells is going to be here or not.

Eventually the Dolphins will have different personnel and run a different system. So, in some way, it is a fad.

The wildcat is so successful with us because Ronnie has the vision to run it correctly. He constantly makes the right reads, Ricky just gets the ball on a hand off his talent as a RB is what takes over and can be replaced. It's Ronnie that would be the difficult one to replace he makes all the decisions when he gets the ball. He does a great job to of showing commitment to a hole setting up the LB'ers to that spot and shifting over to the next hole.

Over teams try and run it but when you do not have a great handle on how that offense works (coaching it) and then add a trigger man that doesn't have any real clue how to set things up besides their own natural RB skills you set yourself up for failure and it gets called a gimmic.
