Dolphins safety Jimmy Wilson is looking to build on his first-year successes and earn a more prominent in role in the secondary. Wilson recently spoke to the John Congemi about his expectations heading into the 2012 season. Here’s what he had to say:
On Dolphins off-season program:
“Everybody (was in Davie, Fla.) working hard. We haven’t slowed down since the day we started. We’ve got new coaches; we’ve got some new players on the team. The guys from last year, we want to come out and make sure no one is out there being lackadaisical. We want to be firing on all cylinders by the time the season starts.”

love me some Jimmy Wilson, I really hope he wins one of the safety spots, I think he has tremendous upside
 
For Jeff Ireland to really turn around his reputation, it's not going to be the Ryan Tannehills and Jonathan Martins of the Draft that have to end up starters...it's the Jimmy Wilsons and those types that have to turn out really good finds in the late rounds.

The Dolphins have been missing that since Ireland took over in 2008. Donald Thomas started for a year and then lost his job. Chris Clemons started for a year and then lost his job. Reshad Jones started for a year and I think we all know he shouldn't have. He'll start again this year and now we'll see if he was worth it. Charles Clay is a #2 TE and we talk him up but he still only caught 16 balls for the Dolphins in 2011.

Late round picks are not good bets but every now and then you need to hit on one of these guys. The Patriots have not exactly been the model of Draft success over the years, least not to the extent people make them out to be, but they've gotten more contributions out of their late picks like Julian Edelman, Myron Pryor, Zoltan Mesko, Brandon Deaderick and Marcus Cannon.

I see guys on that list who shoulda, woulda, and coulda. unfortunately sparano and his coaching staff had a horrible record of developing players.
 
Not for nothing, but look who was coaching these guys. From an offensive perspective at least, if we had coaches who had clue one in their heads, those offensive busts may have turned out to be something.. Now I know those guys have gone to different teams and not done much, but regardless, players shouldnt be scrutinized as much as when they have coaches who cant coach.

Coaching has its role to play in a player's success, but none of the players I mentioned went on to some other team and succeeded. Several have received second and third tries with other teams. Blaming the coaching strikes me as just another way to blame the people that are no longer here rather than the people that are still here. Cognitive dissonance.

There is no cognitive dissonance in what I said as I clearly stated that I know those players havent done much.. But what about players that have been released from teams and gone to make significant impacts on other teams. Those scenarios are a direct result of poor coaching... While I am saying there are certainly bad coaches that hinder the development of players, you seemingly are trying to argue no coaches are to blame for the shortcomings of players, which would be incorrect.

Nope, Ireland is perfect because he's still here and Sparano is to blame for all the team's failures in the last 3 years because he's gone. Duh.
 
This entire Parcells house should have been CLEANED after the 2010 season.
 
Most of those should be credited as "The Tuna´s Groceries"...makes u wonder where the ole´bastd actually shops & eats...

Sorry, had to be jeff's fault. he was in the draft room. personally i blame the ball boy for the teams draft picks not panning out. we shoulda fired everyone from bill parcel's to the ball boy to make sure that we had a complete turn around. Oh, and the PA music system guy. he should've showed henne how to throw.

Yeah Jeff Ireland must have hated Chad Henne, he didn't have final say over all personnel moves or anything.... Oh, wait.

Parcells was there as an old voice of "wisdom" and an advisor, but Ireland made the final decision. In layman's terms, that's how his contract was worded. Fact.
