ok people.. i recently started a thread making my bold predictions based on miami selecting their first 2 picks due to team needs.. i said we take jake long with the first pick and the best cb available with #32 overall... for those who got your panties in a bunch over it im sorry... i did not intend on bashin other fellow miami dolphins fans... i am a hugh fin fan 100% and i take a lot of heat for it.. and that said i respect those who hang in there with our boys in the worst of times...

The main puropse of the thread was to stir up some interesting conterversy in these "boring times" in the news department... the thread got exactly what i sought out for.. and once again im sorry if i hurt anyones feelings... now dont get me wrong i am stickin to my words and if im wrong feel free to give me an earful about it.. but just to let you know i was not saying that this is what WILL happen just what i think definitely SHOULD happen

LOL what did you say that got people all mad? Its ok with me, dolfans gotta stick together. I always get heat for being a dolfan living in minnesota. Although its been cold as ice this year...

HAHAHA, u didn't know? Unless you are a robot and agree with what some people say on this board then they will get their panties ruffled.

It is quite humerous. Rather then debating, way too many people feel the need to bash, critiscize and *gulp* the most heinous of them all, name call. Oh the agony and despair on here.

U don't need to apologize. The kids on this board who are way too sensitive and take things personally should be the ones apologizing.

i.e.

"What you wanna trade Taylor, our heart and sould on defense. The guy who made Miami and who we would be nothing without. You know nothing of football and are a fairweather fan. You have no loyalty"

or

" If you don't like Matt Ryan you have no clue. No Chris Long will be the bust not Jake Long. o if we don't take Chris Long I will no longer be a fan"

You know those people :d-day:

Some people think Jake Long is really more of a Right Tackle... I'm no scout so who knows. But with a draft rich at the Tackle position....why make the very first overall pick Jake Long?

you shouldn't care at all, b/c we should take j long first and the best CB available with the pick after - hopefully mckelvin. would take talib, cason, rogers-cromartie, or jenkins there though.

Simple. Why takea chance at Value when you are guaranteed the best.

The same could be said with Chris Long. Why draft a OLB at #1 when we could just as easily get value with Groves at 32. Plus he's a tweener

Same could be said with Matt yan etc...

When a team is obviously worried about the investment in a #1 money wise, the best thing to do is take the safest bet. Jake Long.

Besides, some say Carey did a good job at LT last year. Jake Long would most likely do better IMO and most if not all will admit it. So the whole O-line will be upgraded by adding Jake.

Besides, 10 months ago no one was saying Jake was a RT. He went on to have a dominating Senior year. What's his reward? The fact that some say he is a better RT prospect for the NFL.

I find it funny how many critiscize sports writers on this board yet jump on a bandwagon the moment 1 says " My sources tell me some GM'S perceive Jake Long to better suited for RT in the NFL"

but w/ so much Oline depth in the draft this year and w/ so many team needs, would you take Jake Long #1 overall and try getting him to left tackle??? I just think that since we have this curse of the 1st round pick, we try to get someone with the least amount of down-side and I see that as being Chris Long...but I will have to wait and see...

Yes, because he is the best T in the draft.

There is heavy debate right now as Gholston being better then Long and so forth.

No one is claiming a Tackle to be better then Long.

That's just how I see it, there's no guarantee 1 of the Tackles who would be a value pick at 32 will be there. The only guarantee is we could get the best Tackle in the draft at #1.

Have you seen who we have on our Oline? We have 3 starters on Oline and a bunch of unproven players... Assuming we dont trade JT, where do you start Chris Long or Gholston. And anyone can argue about DE's being deep as well. Groves might be there at 2a. and I know Calais Campbell certainly will... Hell Campbell might slide to the 3rd round... Theres also Bryan Smith who is a great pass rusher.

Its arguable but i think we should fill the holes we have rather than fill the ones that we "will" have later when JT is gone. Plus good DE/OLB's hybrids come along very often.

Im not even gonna talk about Matt Ryan because he will not be successful behind this Oline. So hes out of the question.

yeah im from pittsburgh and i get it from everyone... esp when the fins lost to pitt twice in the past 2 years

I guess we can agree on something.....your post I thought was a good debate. Lets just keep the personal attacks out of it. I enjoy a good thought out discusion on what's to come. Especially when where still 3 weeks from draft day. Keep it up Dfootball11, I love to read good football talk even if I don't agree with it.

I've been around this board since 2001 and anytime you post something whether it's opinionated or not, you will get flak, b * tching, moaning from a lot of people who think they know more than you, are a better fan than you, or think they have ALL the answers to solving Miami's downfall. I have learned to try and pick and choose my threads because I know when I hit that "submit new thread" button, I know someone will attack it.

One of the best posts I've seen in a while. Miami has done a lot of settling for lesser talent on the OL over the years, I say enough of that and get the best of the best for once.

the draft goes in waaay deep in the Tackles.. IMO take Gholston and take a secondary player with the number 32 pick.. hopefully Phillips will still be around but chances are he wont. best bet is Aqib Talib, seeing as his draft stock might go down with reports of failed drug tests in college

jake long and top ranked CB at 32 is fine by me.

I don't see any reason jake long can't play LT. I hear a bunch of people saying they THINK he might be a better right tackle than left. no one will know until the next few years goes by.

just draft the mammoth at one, and move carey to RT. parcells has his larger than large theory anyway. so that bodes well for jake long, but there may be a curveball on draft day anyway.

you just never know.
