In Ricky Williams' eyes, Brown is real deal

Wow... and I thought that my alma mater's backfield was incredible with Cadillac and Ronnie together, but the Ricky and Ronnie combo blows that away!

The only thing that keeps me from wetting my pants (in a good way :D ) over Ricky's comments is that he said Travis Minor was better than him after he quit last year, but if he's accurate, Oh!!!! Boy!!!!!!!!!! :D

Ricky was still high when he said Minor should be starting.

Carey a problem ?

"How underwhelmed are the Dolphins by their offensive line? Asked Tuesday who his best O-lineman has been, Nick Saban gave nobody a strong endorsement. ``Our inside three guys [ Seth McKinney, Jeno James and Rex Hadnot] have played adequately. Damion McIntosh has played decently well. Right tackle [ Stockar McDougle and Vernon Carey] has been somewhat of a problem.''

Is he out of position or is he a bust ?

I wanted Shawn Andrews last year and when we didn't get him, I though we should've went the QB route, because I just didn't see any other lineman worth our 1st rd pick. I think he is adequate at best, and he isn't going to star, especially if he isn't playing guard.

I think he should be playing guard because he just doesn't have the feet to play either tackle IMO. I don't think he is a bust yet, he isn't doing great but I guess you could call this an extension of his rookie season because he only started twice last year I think.

I think Saban initially hoped that the old administration had failed to coach him up, but after failing to fit him in at right and left tackle, I think Saban probably believes he's part of the problem and not the solution.

He makes too much money for a marginal guy, I can see most/all of these guys being shown the door next off-season. Jeno James is over payed too. Not sure of the cap ramifications though.

Interesting quote by Saban... I wish he would go into further explanation what exactly the problem was at RT with Vernon Carey and Stockar McDougle. In terms of penalties and sacks allowed, Stockar may be one of our worst Offensive Lineman believe it or not. I honestly don't think Vernon has been doing that bad of a job and I think D-Mac has been doing better than people have criticized.

Our Offensive Line has only allowed 10 sacks this season tied with Carolina, Cincinatti, Kansas City, and the N.Y. Giants for 5th best. Only better O-lines are Denver (9 sacks allowed), Green Bay (8 sacks allowed), New England (7 sacks allowed), and Indy (5 sacks allowed). That's not bad at all, infact that's pretty good and Denver, Green Bay, New England, and Indy are some of the top O-lines in the league in terms of protecting the QB. Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, and Tom Brady may tbe the three best when it comes to least sacked. Our O-line has definitely improved from last year but I would say most people are disappointed with the fact they expected so much more from Hudson Houck so soon (not to mention the quick start and now the 2-4 record), I think we will keep on improving and I think we are capable of becoming an average to above average Offensive Line and that's just with what we have right now, not even counting FA or the Draft. We are definitely in much better shape then we were last year in terms of our O-line (as well as quite a few other things as well) in my honest opinion.

Our O-line has definitely improved since last season but they're still not good.

My Grade: C or C- respectively

2005 O-LINE STATS

Damion McIntosh- (6 Games, 6 Games Started), 3 Penalties for 20 yards (2 False Start, 1 Holding), and 1 sack allowed for 8 yards.

Jeno James- (6 Games, 6 Games Started), ZERO PENALTIES!! 1 Sack Allowed for 7 yards.

Seth McKinney- (6 Games, 6 Games Started), 4 Penalties for 35 yards (1 False Start, 3 Holding), ZERO SACKS ALLOWED

Rex Hadnot- (6 Games, 6 Games Started), 7 Penalties for 34 yards (7 False Starts ) 1 Sack Allowed for 7 yards.

Vernon Carey- (6 Games, 4 Games Started), 2 Penalties for 15 yards (1 False Start and 1 Holding), 1 Sack Allowed for 6 yards.

Stockar McDougle- (5 Games, 2 Games Started), 6 Penalties for 35 yards (5 False Starts, 1 Holding), 3 Sacks Allowed for 17 yards.

No doubt whatsoever that Stockar McDougle has been hurting us the most in pass protecting and he and Rex Hadnot are killing us in penalties, especially FALSE STARTS!

Now lets take a look at our O-line stats in last year. So far our O-line has played 7 games (with the exceptions of Carey and McDougle), this is what it looks like after a whole season LAST YEAR.

2004 O-LINE STATS

Damion McIntosh- (14 Games, 14 Games Started), 3 Penalties for 20 yards (2 False Starts and 1 Holding) and 9 Sacks Allowed for 46 yards.

Jeno James- (14 Games, 14 Games Started), 3 Penalties for 30 yards (3 Holding), 4.50 Sacks Allowed for 37 yards.

Seth McKinney- (16 Games, 16 Games Started), 4 Penalties for 35 yards (2 False Starts and says 0 Holding but supposedly 4 Penalties), 6 Sacks Allowed for 40.50 yards.

Rex Hadnot- (14 Games, 7 Games Started), 3 Penalties for 20 yards (2 False Starts, 1 Holding), 1 Sack Allowed for 7 yards.

Taylor Whitley- (16 Games, 11 Games Started), 2 Penalties for 10 yards (1 False Start, 1 Holding), 8 SACKS ALLOWED for 58 YARDS!!!

John St. Clair- (14 Games, 14 Games Started), 3 Penalties for 15 yards (3 False Starts), 4.50 Sacks Allowed for 21.50 Yards.

Vernon Carey- (14 Games, 2 Games Started) 0 Penalties, 0 Sacks Allowed
Wanny and Wise only started him 2 games. :shakeno:

Greg Jerman- I'll just hit submit already...

No doubt Damion McIntosh missing Training Camp last year hurt terrible and he has made VAST IMRPOVEMENT this year and he, Vernon Care yJeno James have been doing the best thus far this year in my opinion. Taylor Whitley=Scum. Seth struggled and while he has improved quite a bit, I still feel he is the weaklest link of our O-line and I doubt he'd start on of the 31 other teams, not even the Texans because their starting C is his brother Steve McKinney whom is actually not bad. Vernon Carey's stats speak for themself, whether he was "ready" to play or not... he was clearly better than anyone we put out there... I can't believe we only started him two games. John St. Clair = Mr. Forgotten, I believe he actually found his way in the starting lineup for Chicago. Taylor Whitley would be forgotten too if he didn't suck so bad.

To give this offensive line a C or C- grade would be...offensive.

The sacks statistic are very tainted. Gus Frerotte deserves a medal for the pocket presence he has shown out there and his ability to throw balls away as the pocket quickly collapses. You'll notice we take sacks late in the game when we're trying to play catch-up against unlikely odds. Is it because of blitzes? Nope, a lot of the time they only rush 3 men in those situations. Is it because Gus holds the ball for 10 seconds or something ridiculous? Nope. It is because unlike the majority of the game, when we're actually IN the game and have the luxury of time, late in the game when we're facing unlikely odds and very little time, every throw has to count so Gus does not have the luxury of being able to throw the ball away or dump it off to someone. I wish I could say that in those cases Gus is just hanging onto the ball too long, but in most of those situations he doesn't even have a full 3 seconds before he needs to tuck the ball and avoid pressure or take the sack.

If Sage Rosenfels pops into the game as our starter, you'll find out just how good Gus has been at sensing the pocket collapsing, and just how unreliable our OL is at pass protection...especially with Stockar McDougle in the game. I will say the protection on the right side is much better with Carey in the game, but we're allowing pressure up the middle and from the left side and from the right side.

What would you grade our Offensive Line as a unit with and without Vernon Carey in the lineup?

Jeno James, btw, is probably the cleanest player on the OL. He's not the fantastic player we hoped he would be (free agent acquisition interior OL rarely are), but he's definitely a clean player.

Damion McIntosh probably gets my vote as the best of the bunch. Rex had earned too many penalties. Seth has been decent. Jeno is clean but still unspectacular, and RT has been problematic in pass protection (McDougle), run blocking (Carey), and penalty production (McDougle).

Carey is out of position. He belongs at left tackle. I've been saying it since the preseason. He has the feet for the position no matter what ya'll read in the scouting reports.
