I saw this picture in Gladsadmad signure (I hope you don't mind my friend). Is Penny holding the football in the middle - not the edges - before throwing a (sparrow) to a wide out? How can you throw a football holding it from the middle?

His form is correct. Pinky and ring fingers on the threads, everything else tightly placed behind the threads.

Thats a photoshop of Ray Finkle

"The laces were out... THEY WERE OUT!!!!"

if you want to talk about a weird way to throw the ball, talk about Nate Davis... no laces

It looks like he's throwing a big wad of pepperoni

The person in the picture is wearing Nike shoes. Chad Pennington wears Reebok (at least he used to have an endorsement deal with them). As someone else pointed out, the facemask is wrong, too. That is Joey Harrington.

Also, people who place more of their hand (fingers) behind the laces, tend to have smaller hands. Culpepper had smallish hands (for an NFL QB) and semi-webbed fingers. His hand was measured at 9" at the combin in 1999. He gripped the ball closer to the nose (fewer fingers on the laces).
Hand size cannot predict NFL success. Jim Druckenmiller's habnd measured 11 inches. He was a bust. Brett Favre's measured 10 3/8". Tim Couch's hand measured 9 7/8". Jake Plummer's was 9".
