I don't think that the deep game has been abandoned, but Lazer knows that isn't the strength of this offense. I believe after a week of killing the confidence of the young QB, Lazer decided to institute a confidence boosting offense playing to Tannehill's strengths and was rewarded with a win.
This team needs an identity on offense and today may have finally established one. I am sure deep play's will come, but I can live with 18 yard chunks in the passing game with solid running as a primary attack. Also, the biggest change in the offense today was not trying to force it to Wallace every down. Spreading the ball around is better for everyone, and everyone today made the most of it. Forcing the ball to Wallace has been the kiss of death more often than not, but he was used well today.
I must give kudos to Wallace for playing so much tougher this year. I have been a detractor in the past, and while I still wish he had better hands, his toughness and effort have been so much better this year he has become a bright spot on the team.
