I know a lot has been blamed on our injuries this season. It seems to me that when Parcells first arrived there was some talk about changing the medical staff or conditioning or something so injuries didn't happen as often. I've searched and can't find anything. Does anyone else remember this or is it just a figment of my imagination?

I definitely remember that, but injuries (a contributing factor for sure) is only part of the Dolphins problems.

Yeah injuries is the only reason we haven't won a super bowl in 45 YEARS. Bad coaching, drafting, players and bad moves on free agency has nothing to do with it. It's all because of injuries.

... but injuries are the topic of this thread, guys. That said, I tend to wonder if the strength training staff needs to be reassessed. I realize this is football, and you could get hurt at any time, but our team gets pretty banged up each year. I doubt it’s just bad luck literally every year.

Yea, that was the start of "Project BIG!" Don't you remember? It was all about BIG -- we have subsequently taken on "Project MiniMe" in an attempt to destroy defenses with bubbles...

The problem with Parcells strength and condition program was that it was designed to bulk up our guys and make them into big, strong monsters....yet the league was evolving into being leaner and faster.Even so, we had Jake Long, Jake Grove, and Justin Smiley among others who broke down after signing with us. So I dont think that looking into the Parcells era is a good example of what we should use to prevent injuries.

I def remember that, he couldn't believe how many players were injured before he got there. I think part of it was him thinking players in today's era are pussies, which is prob true compared to the old days. I think a major part of the problem is that these guys barely hit in the offseason. It is supposed to prevent injuries by not tackling during the week, but to me it seems like that has the opposite effect. Guys don't practice good technique when tackling and they come out on game days going full speed and not adjusted.

I find it hard to believe there were MORE injuries in the old days when teams had full contact practices all week (or 2 a days), than what we've seen the last couple yrs in the NFL. Anyone have any data on that?

I was just wondering if we are experiencing more injuries than other teams and does it have anything to do with conditioning, medical staff, etc... or just bad luck?
