I think my whole opinion on this season (and some other things) has just changed a bit.. Read on:

OK here is a question. What if the game plan that we have seen all year (except the Bears game) wasnt exactly Mike Mularkey's game plan?

What if the the players werent given ample time to learn said game plan?

KenInBoca said:
Well what if the game plan designed by Mularky was over ridden by someone higher up.

The new game plan might not be able to be worked on until later in the week.

Making the players to have to train even harder to learn a different plan.

KenInBoca said:
And what if the players werent exactly happy with the higher up and the way he was running practices?

KenInBoca said:
I can tell you that the game plan we saw in Chicago was Mularkys, the team had alot of rest prior and had PLENTY of time to learn the plan..

KenInBoca said:
I think that someones eyes might have been opened.
All I know is that MM was ready to quit before last week. And that a few players on the team were ready to quit on the HC..

KenInBoca said:
Without revealing a source all I can say is that prior to this past game MM was not happy with the fact that his game plans were being pushed to the side and was ready to quit.

I also know of a certain WR who was very dissappointed with said game plans and was bitching about being burnt out come game time.

KenInBoca said:
What I heard is that the players like Saban. But they think he is wearing them out in practice and they arent 100% going into the games. Last week Saban didnt push them so hard and they won.

I have no clue MM state of mind now. Only prior to the game..

Please discuss...

If found this because finheaven decided to be down for 15 thousand hours last night.

Nooo.. Ken runs that site.. It's been said that he is good people.

That's why I took stock in it.

I like Ken, and have zero issues with him. Not hard to find a disenting voice when you are 2-6

Yeah but he is talking about having insider info, not speaking his opinion.

I mean, yeah he could be lying, but it could be true. He doesn't strike me as a guy who would stir **** up for the sake of stirring **** up.. I mean he brought it up in a very innocuous thread, not like he stickied it on the main page.. you know?

dang...I didn't mean to give the impression he was making things up.... I certainly beleive "he" thinks he is getting inside scoop. All the gadget plays we have seen are "signatures" of Moolarkies style, so I guess I don't know WHAT to think.

I know I read somewhere that, in last week's game, they got away from Linehan's playbook, and Mularkey was indeed allowed to use his own plays. Whatever that means.

Well we were led to believe that we would be running Linehan's offense with some minor changes, last week was the first we saw anything like Linehan's offense.

My thought is Saban said, this is what I want over the bye week, now do it!

I think it is the other way around.. That's what makes it sketchy..

I don't, I think he gave Mularkey the respect as a former HC and said this is what I want but you can make some changes, I don't think he thought he would make so many!

Let's just put it this way, according to the source, last week was the first time Mularkey was given carte blanche to call/run/gameplan his offense.

Like the source says, Mularkey was ready to quit because the "higher up" did away with Mularkey's offensive game plan and the players were ready to quit because the 'higher up" was pushing them in practice too hard to perform adequete enough in games. Really, my main shock is the former because all of this time we thought Mularkey was the one screwing everything up when (if you believe the source) it was Saban not letting Mularkey be a true OC.

It is kind of hard to tell if it was successful or not because the offense didn't really have to do much last week for the team to win.

If Mularkey was indeed allowed to use his own plays this week versus any other game this season then he needs to keep doing that because giving Ronnie the football must be a priority!

Thanks for the info FIRI...

It is something to think of, knowing some of the stuff we already assumed and maybe we did assume and you know what happens when you a.s.s.u.me...

I guess we might know for sure in the future or we'll never know...but thanks for the info...

Maybe, but if you look at Mularkey while at Pitt, it was the same play calling as the first 6 or 7 games.

I'm going by pure memory when I say this but I have to disagree. When he was at Pitt, you know the Pitts running backs got a good 25-30 carries every game. Not exactly what we saw in the first 7 games this year.
