Defensively, the Raider's have given up 606yds. in rushing over the last 3 games(162(Carolina), 252(Atlanta), 192(Baltimore)). Consequently, they have surrendered 436yds. though the air (52, 201, 183 respectively). I think that teams are concentrating on running the ball and in turn this accounts for the Raider's 13th rated pass defense.
On offense, over the last 3 games, Oakland has only generated 16 pts. and were shut out by the Falcons. All year, the Men in Black have only 6 TD passes though the air equaling the number of picks Walter and Russell have thrown. McFadden, Fargas, and Bush are rushing for a combined 4.2ypc. Clearly, our main focus should be on stopping the run. If we can stop the run, it is going to be a long day for the Raider nation.
The Raider's only avg. 7.5yds/punt returns, but are averaging 22.1 on Kick returns. After watching last weeks meltdown on STs, kick returns concern me. Hopefully our ST coach, John Bonamego, has his head out of his *** and can correct the breakdowns of last week.
Oakland has been opportunistic in the TO side. They have given up, as stated previously, 6ints. and taken away 11. DeAngelo Hall has the most ints. on the team with 3 with the other 8 spread out between 7 players. Oakland has recovered 14 fumbles and their opponents have come up with 15.
As always, if we can win the TO battle it will go along way to contributing to the win. Stay on the positive side of turnovers and limit their running game and we should be looking at 6-4 at 4:15 on Sunday afternoon.
