Hey fellow fin fans,
I need to write an essay for my engligh class and need a few pros and cons of instant replay. Here's what I have now:

Pros
Extra set of eyes on the field
Making the right call
Eliminates arguments

Cons
Slows the game down
Removes human element

Thanks for the help

I think a con is that not all plays can be reviewed. The Denver/SD game earlier in the year is a perfect example. DeSean Jackson's td vs Dallas was reviewed but instead of Dallas getting the ball Philly just got it on the 1 yard line.

The challenge system is flawed also. If the goal is to get the play right then if a play is clearly wrong and a team is out of challenges this doesn't work IMO.

The pro is getting the call right. No game will be officiated perfectly. If a blatant mistake is made I think it is better for the game to correct it.

Thing about that San Diego game is . . . once the whistle blows, the play is dead. The refs gotta be shy with the whistle . . . let a play develop . . . Hochuli knows that, he messed that up.

And that has to be the way, because then Denver could argue . . . well we heard the whistle.

I like instant replay, too many bad calls in the NFL, instant replay helps out alot.

They just need to change that overtime system. Maybe start teams at the 35 in the NFL instead of the 25 like in college.

Con:
The are ridiculous at the end of the game, esp. when the game is over already...

One more reason the challenge system sucks that djfresh didnt mention is the fact a ref can blow a call, then the call be challenged, and the ref STILL make the wrong call even after reviewing it. Or they can always come with the "inconclusive evidence" because the replay dosent clearly show the ref that he ****ed up.

When this happens, not only did the challenging team get hosed on the call, but they compound it by costing that team a challenge AND a CRUCIAL timeout. It just makes it even worse that the refs missed the call.

I say, **** a challenge. If youre going to have replay, simply use it when its necessary and stop forcing coaches to have to worry about challenging a bad call. Just get the call right. The coaches have enough **** to worry about during a game without having to wait to hear assistants from a booth tell him if the replay suggests he should challenge a call or not.

At the very least, they should give the coaches at least one more challenge each and have no timeout penalty for losing a challenge.
