A few days a go i made a remark saying that their should be an instant replay for baseball in the playoffs.

You don't think that having an instant replay rule or challenge rule would ruin the game a bit? Nowadays at least the umps all get together to discuss the play and usually overrule it if they messed it up.

well after seeing the Angles-White Sox game do u agree that their should be an instant replay in playoffs in baseball?

There shouldn't be instant replay.. it's a ridiculous thought. It WOULD ruin the game. It's a game based on judgement, and always should be.

I didn't see the play, I only read and heard about it. However I'll never be in favor of an instant replay rule no matter what. Even if my team got screwed over by blown calls (which they have in the past) I'm still and always will be against it. Nothing will ever change my mind on this matter because it would ruin the game.

My question is why not? Wouldnt you rather have the ref get the call right. Theres two bad things that could happen to your team. You could:

A) get screwed because of a bad call and lose the game
or
B) win the game off a bad call and never get the recognition for tht game.

i wouldn't mind seeing a challenge system for stuff like close outs or fan interference.

im not sure if there would be an adequate penalty system for missed challenges though.

i dont think it would hurt the flow of the game too much, considering baseball is 99% inaction

as for tonight's play in particular, i dont think it would be reversed. there wasnt conclusive evidence either way, imo

No offense and I'm going to use you as an example, but people who think that a ref calls baseball games are probably the ones who want instant replay in baseball...

...seriously, you can't experiment with stuff in the playoffs.

Why don't I want an instant replay rule? Simple, it would be over used and slow up the game. First of all you couldn't use an instant replay rule for balls and strikes, baseball already has something like that called quastech (excuse my spelling) and so far almost every pitcher who's park it is in complains about it. A strike zone is an umps decision. Secondly coaches would over use it, in a single baseball game there's probably 2 to 3 bad calls, if they was a close play on first base in the 1st inning a coach would challenge it. He's wrong then what? A 2 strike penality for his batter?

It would ruin the game. Also why only have the instant replay rule for the play offs? Couldn't a bad call cost a team its chance to get into the playoffs?
I understand why football has one because there's a million things happening at once and only 3 to 4 refs there to see what's going on. However baseball there's not a lot of stuff that happens on a single play.

I'd rather have my team get screwed and get cost a game or the season on an umps back call then have an instant replay rule that would be a joke and have the play reversed. My team, the Red Sox, have had a lot of bad calls go against them in with the bunt/steal of 2nd in the 75 World Series vs. the Reds, the phatom tag in the 99 play offs vs. the Yankees. At least now umps get together on big plays (like Bellhorn's HR in 2004 ALCS Game 6 and Arod's slap play) to talk things over and when they do that 90% of the time they get the play right. That's fine with me, at least the umps are doing that now. There's nothing anyone could and would say to get me to change my stance on this I just think it would totally ruin the game.

As a Sox fan, we have had some many blown playoff calls it kills me... That being said, baseball has been without replay for 100+ years and should stay that way..

that why u limit the teams number of challenges they can use, they get 2 and if they los they lose nothing except the challenge

Don't blame the Umps for last night's Angels-White Sox game...the backup catcher should never have assumed the guy had struck out and was called out...that is why you tag the runner or throw the ball to 1st. OOOPS!

why not, whats the worst that can happen? they realize they were wrong and change the call of what it should be?

Because if you can get away with something during the regular season but not in the playoffs, you're asking teams to change the way they play after 6 months? Nah, this is what makes things juicy. It sucks if you're the Angels, but this happens in baseball. I hate the DH and I don't want instant replay. That's just me.

Somewhat, the umpire made a mistake by not making his call clear. That's his job.

However, a majority of the blame has to be placed on Paul. If he has his head in the game, none of this matters. You don't ASSUME anything in this game.

In my opinion, Angel fans have nothing to ***** about.

Also, I find it ironic that most of this instant replay whining is coming from a Yankee fan(s). FYI, if there's instant replay the "phantom tag" on Jose Offerman in the 99 ALCS never happens. You guys have been the biggest benefitiaries of the status quo, so please quit the whining.
