Instead of suck for Luck how about pullin for Polian.

Notice how all the finheaven experts have no answer themselves.

True Finheavenness.

If you were a member of VIP you'd see a list of GMs I'd like us to look at. ChambersWI has also created a list on the free board that you must not have paid attention to.

He had pretty good drafts with the exception of 2004 & 2007.
It goes to show you even the most reputable GMs lay an egg from time to time.
I would gladly take him as VP of player personnel.

Here is the link of the Colts draft history.

Polian reminds me of another Bill Parcells. We cannot do anymore old retreads...guys like Sherman and others who just get jobs because they were successful long ago. The game has passed these guys by. We need guys in their 30's and 40's who are innovative.

Peyton Manning is the only reason the colts were winners. Take away Manning he probably isn't viewed as a good GM.

Thats funny. check this out.

Tom Brady is the only reason the patriots were winners. Take away Brady, Bill Belichick isnt viewed as a good GM. Or pioli, or any other no name GM that existed.

Bill Polian is a character guy. He drafts character over thugery ect. So your right, he would be not needed here.

I didn't read any of the comments before posting so if anyone else has said what I'm saying then sorry for repeating.

You do not want Polian, plain n simple. Was he a good. HoF GM at one time? Bet your ass. But after sustained success he got an ego and would feed it often at the expense of the team. He would get coaches that would only run a scheme he deemed "fit" for a team he was managing, and never would save face and admit he was wrong. We CONSTANTLY had players on HUGE contracts that weren't even close to living up to those contracts (Sanders, Brackett, Clark, Freeney(He was playing great, but his contract was way too high)). If you could snatch up pre 05-06 Polian I'd say go for it. But for now leave him in ESPN.

Have you ever heard him on Sirius NFL Radio? He's old and often has trouble putting his thoughts together. No thanks.

With Bill - it's a family deal. You get Bill and his dim witted son as GM and any other family members looking for a job. Cousins Harry and Burt handle the scouting and Polly Polian makes great chicken soup in the cafeteria that even JMart could not walk out on.
When we drafted Ted Ginn Jr in 2007, Cam Cameron proudly explained that was a package deal and we got the Ginn family. With 70 year old Bill, he comes with a much bigger family (he's a lot older, more generations) and some of them are not as smart as Teddy.

yeah but you know what? Everyone is not perfect for all years. Can anyone here name me a great GM who lasted for a long time?

Once again, I would appreciate those who bitch around here about what sucks could they please show us a replacement that you could back up with long term success that is available?

You cant. Because you have to find the up and comers, which no one knows about and then its really about having the right cards to play and then its luck after that. no pun intended.

suck for luck. Thats the prevailing thought by alot of people. Crap the bed so we can get a great QB. That takes a lot of thought.

If you're going for a turn-key guy with proven background I'd go for Casserly over Polian. Frankly I'd take a look at Caserios from NE before either one. A new rumor suggests perhaps someone like Marty Schottenheimer might get a look at GM for someone. All that guy ever did was win games.

I respect that sentiment. Loosing it due to age is one thing and it played a small part in him getting the can, but his biggest flaw was his ego. It grew to ginormous levels that he would never admit he was wrong and would attack the media, release players when they did not need to be released because they were solid for the club(Just Tryon), and enforced his schemes on the coaches when it was not his job to choose what scheme we ran, rather the coaches job to run what scheme we chose yet the coaches played along as not to get fired(Mainly our DC).

I don't think you have a clue about Bill Polian...you just heard his name somewhere and think he would be a good GM.

Let's look at Bill Polian's drafts the last 3 years before being fired:

2009
1st rd Donald Brown - 27th overall pick, 15 starts in 4+ seasons, he's their version of Daniel Thomas
2nd rd Fili Moala - Moved to DE in the 3-4 under Pagano, has 3 career sacks in 4+ seasons
3rd Jerraud Powers - No longer on the team. Plays in Arizona. There's a reason they traded for Vontae Davis.
4th rd Austin Collie - Was only made relevant by Peyton Manning. History of concussions. Now playing in WR desperate New England
4th rd Terrance Taylor - Never even made the roster out of training camp...anywhere
6th rd Curtis Painter - We know this disaster since we saw it first hand in their suck for Luck campaign. Polian put his eggs in the "hope Manning never gets hurt" basket by never getting a better backup.
7th rd Pat McAfee - He's a punter
7th rd Jamie Thomas - Never made a roster. Not surprising from a 7th round pick though.

2010
1st Jerry Hughes - He's in Buffalo now. 8 starts between Indy and Buffalo in 3+ seasons.
2nd Pat Angerer - Having a good year. Had a great second year, lots of injuries last year.
3rd Kevin Thomas - No longer in the league.
4th Jacques McClendon - Backup Guard for Jacksonville now
5th Brody Eldridge - No longer in the league
7th Ricardo Matthews - Backup DT, 5 career starts, 1 career sack, 43 career tackles in 3+ seasons
7th Kavell Conner - Backup ILB
7th Ray Fisher - Never made a roster

2011
1st Anthony Castonzo - Starting OT who if you ask most Indy fans are very disappointed in. He's not as bad as Martin at OT but he's not that much better.
2nd Ben Ijalana - Playing with the Jets now as a backup OT
3rd Drake Nevis - Playing with the Cowboys now as a backup DT...it's his 3rd team in 2+ seasons.
4th Delone Carter - No longer in the league
6th Chris Rucker - No longer in the league

So let me sum this up...3 drafts, 21 players drafted, 2 starters in 3 drafts only one of which is any good in Angerer, 14 of 21 no longer on the team, 8 of 21 aren't even in the NFL. So tell me how is it you think Bill Polian would be a good GM?

Agree with most everything but we love AC. He is a solid tackle who is progressing nicely.
