Interest between Dolphins & Alex Smith is REAL, Fins willing to spend big on Smith

This guy is just insignificant enough to sign with us. I think it will happen.

Smith probably doesn't realize how bad the stadium is. Or perhaps I'm not giving him enough credit. He's encouraged the boos will be coming from further away.

Big news for local tarp companies. If he's the quarterback, more upper deck seats need to be hidden than previously planned
.

agreed 1000%

well, if the criteria is , high draft pick, big body, strong arms&successfull in play offs thanks to his defense, without any eye-test (I thought he was horrible vs Giants, but admittedly I am no exper), well, maybe we should make a call to Dilfer :lol2:

just joking, of course: it's the only thing one can do, while NFLN laugh at us, sigh

I dont look at Smith just from his progression to now. I look at how he would work in Philbins O. If you look at the video's provided, he even hits the RB out of the backfield on the nose so the RB can run with it. Same with Vernon Davis. YAC.

I think this is what Philbin may be noticing. This is what Philbin wants. Accuracy and direct hit so the reciever can take it for big gains.

And I wouldnt understand the griping from everyone because who else is out there? There is no one of significance. Smith was a #1 overall draft pick for a reason. Half of us would say draft Tannehill or Weeden but nobody know how that would pan out in the end either?

So like I said before, I am in for Smith. I have not seen him injured in all these years either. He is a pretty strong guy who has not had wear and tear even playing for 6 years. I just would feel sorry for him with our fans. Our fans are not very forgiving or understanding. yeah you spend money all these years. So has the rest of the league and the same teams with great QB's win it all. SF was one or two plays away from making noise.

when i watch film on alex smith, i see a smart quarterback who can make all the throws. He has good ball placement skills and has shown ability to play well in high pressure games. HE IS NOT ELITE! He can get us to 13-3 tho, which he has proven. He can win playoff games, which he has proven. He can be safe with the ball (17-5), which he has proven. so, Why not a game manager? Maybe thats what philbin wants?

I say we draft a quarterback but, I'll be content with Alex Smith.

Looks like he has some good leadership in him too. Was totally in charge in the no huddlel against the Saints

He can get a team to 13-3 in the worst division in the NFL, with the best defense in the NFL, with a top rushing attack. He has none of those things going for him in Miami.

He was not effective in the red zone. It was a huge problem area for the 49ers this season.

Smith is not a terrible quarterback, but this team is in trouble if we're going to throw 20+ million guaranteed at this guy.

Good post mate. I have no idea what is going on with Finheaven, but a lot of people seem to be seeing something in Smith that nobody else is seeing. As you said he is an average QB who has had one decent season when he was asked to manage the game. People seem to be putting all the credit on Smith for the 49ers going 13-3 (its very popular to give the QB all the credit/blame) whilst at the same time ignoring the previous 6 years of utter mediocrity.

We don't have the 49ers defence, nor do we have a Frank Gore or Vernon Davis to help hide Smith's dirty little secret i.e. he is a very average QB and has been for his entire NFL career.
