Interesting article on Cutler

I think it depends on who or if we sign a backup QB by next Monday. I think DC can play 3-5 more years if healthy and we could groom a guy like Cutler.... two drafts magazines that I read had us drafting Cutler at #16.

This has already been posted twice in the draft forum bro.

Culpepper has more than 3-5 years left in him.

I'd rather draft a WR in the first round than a QB, and I don't think we need WR's at all.

Our first pick has to be on defense, filling whatever hole we missed in free agency

No

With Pep on board, we have bigger needs this year, maybe a hot rookie QB in a year or two...

I just dont see any way he makes it out of the top 10 much less all the way to 16.

Yes, Daunte is 29, many people have defined him as a "young experienced QB", in the first round our key-need is draft someone for the Offensive Line, if we dont have left any good one and we dont sign any free-agent linebacker I'd say "draft a linebacker or someone for the deffense"...

If Cutler is there which im 98% sure he wont be then youd have to be sick not to take him

Yeah, but what do we do after 2 years which should be the longest to groom a qb wihtout having him start and play. And Culpepper is still paying great with quite a bit of football left at 31 or 32 yaers old. This would then be like the San Diego situation. I don't thinkn Miami should get a top qb like Cutler if it's not needed. I can understand if Miami gets maybe Omar Jacobs for the 4th round if he's still there, he would be project who has talent, but different delivery.

agreed...

but culepepper is no 100% shoe in that he will be the same again.
i can see us taking him if he fell that far. i think it would be better to be in a san diego situation, than watchin cutler succeed somewhere else knowing we could of had him.

You have to realize that the contents of the magazines you read have to be finalized months before they show up in stores. I am betting that when those mags went to press, the senior bowl hadn't even took place yet.

Regardless of what PFT said, I still don't see Cutler falling into our laps at 16.

Well what if we have to let go of Cutler and then see him flourish on another team that would really suck. It would be quite a dilemma if Culpepper plays well after two years and has quite a bit of more years left. It would be nice to hold on to Cutler onger, but I'm pretty sure he would he ancy just like Rivers, and would want to go to another team and start. And what if Miami realeases Culpepper to a team and he flourishes, and Cutler ends up being a bust? I don't know I think there are greater needs than get a qb, especially one with the 16th pick.

Cutler will be gone in the top 5. If for some absurdly insane reason he's there at #16 (lol...no way) then we would take him.

It really depends on how we feel the talent at QB will be the next couple of drafts. If we dont draft a QB this year, we will have to do so within the next two years. If they feel Cutler or Young will be better than anyone they can get either of those two years, they will definitely draft them at 16. I seriously doubt they will considering trading up to get either. Everyone sees how QBs careers go, nothing is guaranteed with Culpepper. And with QB being such an vital position, you always need to keep your options open. San Diego had the luxury of having two viable QBs for their team. In my opinion they mismanaged that luxury, but I have more faith in our Management to get fair value for players.

Bottomline is, no team should pass up on a potentially great QB.
