They under-rate us here, :fire: but I'm used to it. :shakeno:Are the New York Jets really as bad as they looked in their Week 1 loss at Kansas City?
No, and they should prove as much by knocking off the Miami Dolphins.
This won't be an easy game for the Jets, either. The Dolphins are an improved team, as they demonstrated by dominating the Denver Broncos. But the Jets were victimized by the fact that, through a variety of mistakes, they fell behind early in a stadium that might be the league's most difficult for the visiting team to rally. The Jets also will feed off the embarrassment they have felt for their sloppy performance.
Step 1 for the Jets will be to do everything possible to restore confidence to quarterback Chad Pennington, whose surgically repaired shoulder is limiting some of what he is able to do as a passer. The home crowd will be looking for the first opportunity to let him feel its wrath.
Jets QB Chad Pennington will look to bounce back from his dismal Week 1 performance. That makes it imperative for the Jets to establish a strong running game early, which is doable. The Jets will look for more involvement from backup running back Derrick Blaylock, who is capable of providing a spark as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. Once the Jets get their ground game in gear, Pennington should have success with play-action passes against the Dolphins' overly aggressive safeties, Tebucky Jones and Lance Schulters.
Miami quarterback Gus Frerotte was impressive in Week 1, but he has a history of being inconsistent in his play. The Dolphins also didn't mount much of a running game against the Broncos beyond a big reverse by receiver Chris Chambers.
