Here's Aaron Rodgers - arguably the best deep ball thrower of the football. He says it's a skill you can learn and develop. I had always suspected this to be true, and given the fact that Ryan Tannehill has only been working on it from his senior year in college, I am confident that RT will develop a good deep ball. That is the final piece of his game that will propel him to Elite.

Puh-lease what does Aaron Rogers know about throwing the deep ball that the dozens of keyboard QBs on here don't? I'm sure many of them even play madden. Don't let that flash in the pan Aaron Rodgers fool you; if a prospect doesn't come out of the womb hitting his stuffed kangaroo in the pouch from 40 yards out, he'll never be able to.

Good thing we wasted 2 years of our QB's development with a guy who ran the option at Nebraska as his 'quarterbacks coach.'

Of course it can be developed, when Tom Brady came into the league he was mostly a dink and dunk guy with an average arm. He's developed both his arm strength and deep ball accuracy through hard work, fundamentals, and being coached up. Tannehill can do the same.

J.D. why do you always have to blame the coaching for everything? This thread is about deep ball. At least the previous offensive coordinator tried the deep ball. Our current one removed it from the playbook until we were practically out of playoff contention. So as far as deep ball development I would say the current staff is holding him back more than the previous one. Now I agree they are making progress in other areas that can be seen.

But you can't learn if you don't try.

It can be developed...many have said as much. The issue is that Wallace doesn't want to work on it with Tannehill during the off season. He has said as much.

OMG tell me about it, I thought Henning's ways were outdated but Shermanosaurus was just WOW. Every single time I say "there is no way it can be worse" this team proves me wrong, I said it when Sherman took over for Henning, I said it when Ellerbe and Wheeler were brought in for Dansby and Burnett, I said it when Martin was brought in to replace Colombo, I said it when Clabo was brought in to replace Martin.

This year I'm gonna switch it up and say, "this signing is worse than......."

Funny about the kangaroo pouch comment . I feel like that's exactly what Wallace is ... A fast kangaroo with no arms. Either put it in his pouch or get the blame for not doing so.... And then he hops all the way to the bench mad.

It was intentional as I have made reference to Wallace as a Kangaroo receiver on these boards at least twice:

Hadn't read those post. You sir, I love. I once read a comment about him being a rocket powered hamster ... And having the catch radius of hamster.... That one got stuck in my head as well lol.

I'm blaming the coaching staff for

1) Not properly coaching up the QB on his throwing mechanics.
2) Not practicing the deep throws in practice more than just a handful of times per week (which they admitted is the case back in the preseason).

Those are valid criticisms.

Yeah, that was me too.

Those things you can practice and try to coach. The will to fight for a ball you can't . So , Wallace won't ever be a guy you can trust throwing it deep unless he's 100% open. A high percentage of deep plays in this league involve the trust a qb has in a receiver to know that worst case scenario you're going to have a guy fight for the ball or at worst fight to knock a bad throw out of a corners hand ..... Wallace has very little of that. He's a burner who better be open if you're going to throw it .
