Just watched a report on NFL.com. Jason LaCanfora said that a big factor in the decision to go with Philbin was his willingness to keep Todd Bowles on staff. Apparently McCoy wouldn't agree to it.

hmmm, so does that mean bowles is definitely the DC? I wouldn't mind that and IDK if anybody knows this but todd bowles was the one who was actually calling the defensive plays like the last 7 weeks of the season, this is good because the defense is our strength and this will keep intact

I have heard that Bowles was calling the defense several times today. I'm just curious as to where that was reported cause I haven't heard that until today.

it was reported several times during the season, i believe by mando im not sure, but I have heard that several times

Thanks for the info.

I think keeping Bowles and some continuity on defense is a great move considering Defense is our strength.

this is from Bowles 12/15 presser:
"...On taking an increasing role in the play calling)- “Mike Nolan calls the plays. He always has. There are all of us on the sideline, (defensive) line, linebackers. He asks us all our input in situations but that’s as far as it goes...”

Hey Rent,

I dont think he would admit it anyway because it would undercut Nolan. A lot of times where there is smoke, May be a lil bit of fire.

its still not for sure that he is.... they are reporting that bowles is still considering other options and if he were offered the HC job in Oakland (he interviewed for it) that he'd probably accept it, but other than that, i dont see him leaving for something else

after the dog and pony show winds down, that job has Winston Moss's name stamped on it...unless Cowher or Gruden have a change of heart.

If he does accept he better learn to stay aggressive for 4 quarters, something Nolan struggled to do.

that could be, for sure. I just found this when I was looking for something that said he did call the plays

Mmmm...this hire is looking fantastic on paper, but some continuety on defense with a full off season..man we can be a force really fast..if the offense looks anything like greenbays

grabbing Flynn in free agency would help with that. teaming him with Blackmon in the 1st and a good TE in the 2nd would be nice, maybe Fleener if he is available there
