Interesting Complication per LaCanfora regarding Philbin Hire!

its still not for sure that he is.... they are reporting that bowles is still considering other options and if he were offered the HC job in Oakland (he interviewed for it) that he'd probably accept it, but other than that, i dont see him leaving for something else

He could spend 2012 here as DC of a well-established solid "D", which has A LOT of talent, and which HE had a lot to do with, and be very confident (if his "D" does well again in 2012) that he WILL get a HC position in 2013...for sure. It would be a wise choice on his part, and a good investment in his future, especially since it wouldn't be long...!!!

hmmm, so does that mean bowles is definitely the DC? I wouldn't mind that and IDK if anybody knows this but todd bowles was the one who was actually calling the defensive plays like the last 7 weeks of the season, this is good because the defense is our strength and this will keep intact
I was stunned when i read Bowles had taken over calling plays for the Defense ... it doesn't speak well of Nolan if this is true about Bowles taking over ... I read Miami was perplexed at some of the Calls made by Nolan early on in the season!!! IMO Bowles is ready to be a DC .. Miami just needs more depth in the secondary and another pass rusher ... and be able to re-sign both Langford and Soliai ...

LaCanfora has been so wrong on everything it's not even funny. He pretty much guaranteed the following: Jim Harbaugh was going to be the coach, Kyle Orton was going to be a Dolphin, Jeff Fisher was about to be named the coach of the dolphins, Mike Zimmer was the front runner and would be named coach in a day or two....he's so full of **** it's not even funny.

Well I prefered Phibin so Im good with the hire but it's a little disconcerning that Maimi may have gone with their 2nd choice because he was willing to retain a coach that may leave this year or next anyway. At least it will be an interesting off season.

Ross ramming Bowles down whoever the next coach was/is just screams of micromanagement or Jerry Jones.

I wonder if this was the real reason why Jeff Fisher balked and took the Rams job; freedom to pick his own staff.

Few if any rookie head coaches get to pick everyone on their staff. Rex didn't. Tomlin did't. Payton didn't. Almost all have a few coaches thrust upon them. It's not that uncommon. In fact its common practice in the NFL

I said a few days ago that Bowles would definitely be retained and not become head coach but defensive coordinator

Smart move by the front office. One of my concerns was that we would get some hot shot coach in here and he would blow up the defensive structure just to have "hIs GuY" in there. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Still wish we could have kept Nolan on. Oh well.

Well Im sure philbens guy would be a solid guy anyway

Jason LaCanfora is now saying on twitter that Bowles wants to explore his other options and it's not likely that he stays at this point.

He is under contract. So unless he is offered a head coaching job he isn't going anywhere. Even if offered a coordinators job Miami can force him to stay if they want. Either LaCanfora is wrong. Bowles is clueless. Or a combination of both

Sure they can force him to say but if you're a new head coach would you rather keep an unhappy holdover from the previous staff or bring in your own guy?
