Interesting Dolphin encounters

Not mentioned on the Wiki

I used to see a lot of those guys around town when they trained at Cal Lutheran and I lived in Thousand Oaks. Pairs of young 6'5" wide-bodied guys, most of them black standing in line for the 6plex on a Saturday night, tended to stand out from the crowd on date night. I saw Too Tall a bunch of times.. he was a massive man. Saw Tom Landry out and about once or twice too.

I met JT once and just shook his hand and whatnot. Other than that, Ive never met another Fins player. I have met a ton of baseball and NBA players because of being in the right places at the right time (NBA PA conference once, MLB All Star break at a popular vacation spot another time). The one that stands out the most to me is Tim Hudson. I was pretty young at the time and was playing little league and he talked with me about baseball for like 20 minutes.

I'm in Braves territory now and see him on TV all the time. I think he won 15 games this year or there abouts.

I met Sparano last year by complete accident. His son went to the same university that I currently go to, and I bumped into him at one of the football games.

Did Landry have his hat on ? I don't think i every saw him without his trade mark suit and hat.

Memory's a little vague on that.. but if I had to guess, I'd say one time yes.. and the other time I did a double take before I recognized him from among a bunch of coaches sitting in seafood restaurant called Bodega Bay.

Incidentally, I once did chat with the great Kuech for about 5-10 mins while we were waiting for our respective hair cutters at a stylist on Hillsboro Blvd in Deerfield Beach. Very nice and open guy! Told him it's a travesty that he's not in the HOF

I know mostly the defense and some offensive players. Have pics but no need to post them. I show them what all you "fans" are saying though

Well, you tell Matt Moore that we seen what he's capable of when it comes to helping a team get the #1 pick. Let him know that he has ALL of our FULL support in helping us land the #1 overall pick in Miami.

MORE OF MOORE IN 2011!

Hard to imagine Jimmy J replaced both him and Shula. One worked out the other not so much.

Tell Marshall i said YO ... What up with dat ?
He'll know what I mean.

I met many of the players.... Zach and JT, RICKY, Darryl Gardener, Rob Konrad, among others. The most memorable was Manny Fernandez. Hung out with him for a few hours in the bar at Shula's...Nicest guy you would ever want to meet, suprising for the way he was on the field and off, he was insane. Talked about the super bowls they won, fishing, gator wrestling. I had a blast and laughed my butt off. Rob Konrad was very cool too..... invited me to his bar in Syracuse NY

I was the produce manager in a Miami lakes store in the 90s
Shawn Wooden would come in often, real mild tempered guy
had a huge upper body from the waist up and skinny chicken legs

Jeff Cross also came in often. He was a great guy who was the only person I
know of who could grasp 2 cantaloupes in ONE hand.He once asked me what is this
and what do you do with it...holding up a bunch of parsley.

I did get YA Tittle's autograph when I was 6 years old

jay fiedler gave my wife and i a bottle of crystal at mortons steakhouse in orlando. he was playing with the bucs then and they were at training camp (they train at disney). he was wasted and they were making the rookies (bruce gronkowski) sing to the people eating there. i have to admit, i talked alot of crap about him (fiedler), but he is pretty big in real life and wouldnt want to get into an altercation with him.

oh. i also met mercury morris, shula, earl moral at shulas steakhouse opening here in orlando. just had my picture taken, nothing to crazy.

What bar does Konrad own in CUSE?

I have mainly met Broncos players living here in Colorado....Elway a couple times, Carl Mecklenburg, Randy Gradishar, Louis Wright, and Haven Moses...mostly older retired players. I sat next to an old QB named YA Title at a sport's bar in Mexico watching the Superbowl between the Bears and Patriots in the mid-80's, I didn't know who he was until another person pointed him out. I also went to a barbecue at the house of former Redskin's QB Sonny Jurgensen.

Elway , Y.A. Title , Sonny Jurgensen now that's so history. I remember Sonny played with a beer belly and threw end over end passes but the dude won lots of games for Washington.

I remember another time I was with a group of people at Hooters in bayside.
In walked Jim Kelly with a couple of the biggest dudes I've ever seen. Must have been O linemen about 350lbs easy.
One guy in my group was a little tipsy to say the least and got very loud. He eventually when over to Kelly's table to discuss the Fins / Bills rivelry. Now my friend was 150 pounds soaking wet. He got louder and one of the big guys got up to confront him. I laughed my azz off and so did Kelly. We ended up buying them a pitcher of beer and apologing for my now passed out drunken buddy.
