On the NFL Morning after article in the "Heard in the press box" section....

The shoulder injury suffered last week by Miami middle linebacker Zach Thomas likely is a torn labrum, not a separation, and he will be examined Monday morning by noted Birmingham, Ala., orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews. Thomas is also suffering from an ankle sprain. … There could be a fairly substantial shakeup of the Dolphins' coaching staff at the end of the season, after only one year under Nick Saban.

The Zach news is bad, but he should be ready to go by next year. I'm surprised to hear that Saban is still wanting to shake up his staff. I wonder if Linehan is still his target.

Linehan and probably someone on the D-side he's not happy with.

I thought they said the torn labrum was not as bad as the seperated shoulder. I heard Zach could be back soon

Zach said himself that he could not play this game because of his ankle not the shoulder. That may be Zach's bravado speaking but it sounds to me that Zach will be back this year.

Thats not good news, because Miami will never get him at #8 of the first round or later if we pick even higher than where we are sitting at now.

Just because he's the second best QB in the draft doesn't mean he gets taken THAT high. Remember, Drew Brees was the second best QB in the 2001 draft behind Mike Vick and he got taken with the first pick of the second round. Giovanni Carmazzi was the second best QB in 2000 draft behind Pennington, and he got taken in the third round.

Exactly, and look where Aaron Rodgers was drafted this past year after most people thought he would be first overall.

Zach should sit out the year and get healthy. Why risk things this year. He has a few good years left. This will give the young guys some playing time they need.

As for the coaching staff, I don't think this Linehan feud is there - IMO it's all media looking for a story. The Offense struggles so let's get a story. I think Saban made a mistake not clearing out all the previous coaches. Look who he kept - Armstrong - are you kidding me - the guy who got Westhof (sp?) fired - Wanny's buddy - our ST's have gone downhill. When is the last time we had a KO returned past the 30? Wes is no breakaway threat on KO's but he has no chance with our blocking. If you look at our #1 weakness it has to be our secondary. Mel may be a good coach but I don't see much improvement here. Give any coach Surtain and Madison in his prime and they would do well. I think these 2 guys are gone for sure. Next - how about a real QB coach with some real experience. Just my 2 cents but there are 3 guys that I don't see have done much for this team. Weakest spots on the team right now and they have shown no improvement.

I heard Drew Rosenhaus on the Paul and Young Ron Show in South Florida this morning who represents Zach, and he said that Zach will most likely be playing against the Bills this week....

Drew Rosenhaus is full of crap

The Linehan thing could be water under the bridge already with Saban making the sideline move this week. It worked really well. Linehan might be gone anyways because of the HC jobs available.

this may be true, but another truth is he is Zachs agent. I dont think Zachs agent would go around providing false info, he is a lawyer.
