Just thought it was interesting and if we were gonna "take a year off" from the draft we picked a good one to skip.

Zero QB prospects

Deep only at WR, where we are set already.

Lots of mid round RBs.

Not many "can't miss prospects"

Grier has really impressed me this offseason. I cant believe I'm saying this but I'm on the verge of being a fan of Chris Grier lol

If Tua turns out to be good, it won't be that bad...... if he fails, it will be the worst 1st round any team has ever had in NFL history.
Yeah, if Tua doesn't get it going this year, that will be 3 swings and misses in one first round. I still don't understand the love Grier is getting from one good draft after 15 years of failure. After 3 complete years of a rebuild, this team still has some pretty big holes to fill. Since this draft is basically non-existent with the dearth of draft picks, I hope Grier can sign some quality free agents after the draft to fill in the holes on the OL, LB, and DL.

Honestly its 2 things that made me forgive Grier.

First is Armstead, that was a great get.

Second was Hill and Grier did a genius move by trading the 1st rounder we got from SF. Can you imagine if we didn't get Hill and we were all fixated on the fact we should be drafting 17th and instead we're not picking until 31?

Grier would be public enemy #1 around here if he didn't trade that pick for arguably the best weapon in the NFL. It was a brilliant move not only to secure a great player but to make the fanbase forget about that idiotic trade with Phi.

A lot comes back to what happens in the 2022 season. If Tua comes good then that draft will actually look like a win, especially if Jackson can transition to RT. Our day 2 picks in 2020 read pretty good with Robert Hunt, Raekwon Davis and Brandon Jones all starters.

If Tua doesn't shine in the new setup then 2020 will be looked back on as a total bust simply because we blew 3 x 1st round picks. The Igbinoghene pick looks like a fail either way. If there any way to feel better about it just remeber, we trade back with Packers who took Jordan Love to sit on the bench for his entire rookie deal.

If u really want to fixate on that, u can fixate on the extra draft capital we had to give up bc we had pick 29 instead of 15.

The total amount of capital we gave up for Hill is estimated to equal around pick 12 or 13. We barely would’ve had to give up anything else if we had still been at 15. We def still would’ve had our 2nd rounder.

The reality of our trade back last year from 3 to 6 is that we gained close to zero capital from it if SF has another good season.

I’m not even trying to bash Grier here. SF would’ve missed the playoffs and had the same record as us if they didn’t beat the eventual champs week 18 in OT. That f***ing sucked and was terrible luck.

I liked trading for Tyreek. But the only thing about that pick it erases is our “fixation” on it (I guess). Not the actual impact of having our draft pick be 14 spots later in the 1st.

It was the 26th pick, and Cupp is the best receiver, not Hill. I guess that's why you said arguably.
thats quite extreme. the Jets once drafted a FB in round 1, Oakland a kicker
To be fair, Janikowski played 18 years for the Raiders.

Two things about that post strike me as curious.

First, Grier hasn't been running things for 15 years. Yes, he has been in the organization but that is like blaming the guy that fills the soda machine for the floor not being waxed properly.

Second, where the hell are we getting the cap space to sign quality FAs after the draft without creating more holes and eating dead money?

Anyone who would choose Kupp over Hill for their team is out of their mind. Regardless of the facts Hill has dominated the league for years. Kupp literally just did it this year only, even though he was decent in the past.

Yeah, I don't mind missing out quite a bit on this draft at all. Think we can find a guy or 2 to make the roster still even with the picks we do have. The value seems to be in the middle of the draft this year, lots of typically 2nd and 3rd round type picks that are being elevated as first rounders this year in my opinion.

Think we’ll grab a center with our 3rd. We’ll miss on the best center in the draft but the next 2-5th ranked are all projected around out 3rd rounder.

Actually I don't think we will get a center. If the last few drafts have shown us anything is that Grier gets whomever he wants regardless of need. I'm pretty sure he is sticking with Dieter unless he trades up for someone he really likes.
