"The biggest play of the Dolphins minicamp was Sean Smith stepping in front of Matt Moore pass to pull down an interception during 7-on-7"

"Jimmy Wilson is a safety now. He had a nice blitz that broke up a play in the backfield"

"After watching todays first minicamp practice it became VERY clear to me the Dolphins need to select a left tackle" (went on to explain as a backup since team has plenty of RTs)

"The one player who really stood out as a linebacker today was Koa Misi. He was decisive, quick to the ball, and forced tailbacks to run outside. I think he'll blossom as a 4-3 outside lineback with some time"

"I will say the Dolphins minicamp practice was VERY efficient. At one point they ran two 7-on-7 sessions at the same time. Matt Moore would run his unit, then offensive coordinator Mike Sherman would turn his back and watch David Garrard run his unit. It went back and forth with about 10 seconds between snaps. Absolutely no time was wasted. EFFICIENT."

--CFL import Jerome Messam is listed as a 6-4, 248 pound tailback for the Dolphins. Seriously?

-- Dolphins receiver Legedu Naanee has taken the infamous No. 19.

-- Dolphins TE Charles Clay has changed his number to 42.

--Linebacker Jamaal Westerman is doing his work with the defensive linemen.

-- The only Dolphin who skipped the voluntary minicamp is Cameron Wake, who has requested a new contract.

-- David Garrard is a lot bigger - thicker - than I expected. He's listed at 6-1, 235.

-- Kevin Burnett is working as the primary inside linebacker with Karlos Dansby sidelined.

I am intrigued by Messam. Hopefully he becomes our next successful CFL import...

Something tells me he is going to be a project at fullback, especially since we have Slaton, Thomas and Bush at running back.

Does this mean that JL is still hurt? Did he not say that he feels healthier than he has been in a long time? Or does it mean that Omar is prone to hyperbole? I say it is the latter.

He probably meant that we need to drop a later round pick on a LT in case Long goes down again.

Messam could be the FB. Philbin loves the FB in his offense. wouldnt be surprised if we get an undrafted one.

Now if we could only find a starter among them!

Messam is not nearly as physical as his size suggests. You look at his CFL highlights and he's much more about having good feet and good speed than he is about being physical. For a tall running back stylistically he's much more Eric Dickerson than Brandon Jacobs, in other words.

He was a top prep in Canada but has had some character problems in the past. Technique wise he needs to learn to run with better pad lean (ala Donald Thomas). But he isn't some scrub with marginal ability.

Nor do I see him as a fullback.

take it for what its worth coming from Omar but he is pretty high on Lydon Murtha taking over the RT spot and doing well, since he was ready to play there last season before his unfortunate injury

I don't doubt us having a RT already on this roster between Murtha, Garner and Jerry...I don't know that we have the Guards for the ZBS though. Incognito is slow and unathletic and the RG spot is completely open. I don't even know if we have someone on the roster that can play the spot effectively.

these guys read that messam is gonna get some looks at fb...thats where the fb stuff comes from...makes no sense to me...guy looks like a single back ball carrier to me...got a lot of daniel thomas to his game imo...

the move to a zbs should only help murtha on the right side...

Murtha has to stay healthy for once in his life or he might as well get a head start on selling insurance.

He's one of the most athletic offensive tackles that have ever participated in the combine... so was Joe Toledo.

The point is, Murtha better develope some durability PDQ or he's no good to you. Just like Joe Toledo was no good to you spending 99% of his career on an exercise bike.
