I agree 100%. Last year it seemed like Henne got the play, went to the line of scrimmage and ran the play no matter what the D showed. Looks like he is out there now directing players and making adjustments according to the D's looks.
He is having the same thought in every positive Henne post on the forum........![]()
That's because he wasn't allowed to audible in Henning's system. The only option he had -- and only on some plays -- was to kill the play to a pass when it was a run or vice versa. A quarterback not being allowed to audible isn't unheard of -- Mike Martz does it -- but I still think it's a foolish and arrogant waste of valuable downs.
One hangover from the way Henne was coached by Lee and Henning -- or maybe it's just part of him, it's hard to say at this point -- is this thing where as soon as he's touched, he pulls the ball down and starts running. I can't stand it when he does that and they've got to coach him better on that. If he had just stepped up and maintained his poise on that play on the five yard line or so he had Hartline wide open in the end zone.
But this was a night that sort of changed the conversation in Miami -- at least for a week. I predict a whole lot of, "oh, well... I was really hard on the guy but I always knew he could do this and I support him all the way now" kinds of threads and posts. Major league backtracking is going to be going on.
Not that a preseason game is proof of anything, of course. But that's what happens when you jump the gun on your evaluation. You tend to jump the gun when anything happens.
Anyhow, not to beat a dead horse but the right side of the line is so bad you only need to rush four people to get a jailbreak kind of rush on us and we're fools if we think Belicheck doesn't know that. I hope the reporters are brushing up their most accusing questions for exactly what Sparano was looking at when he "looked at the film" on Columbo's play last year. I sincerely have no idea.
confidence by commitee. Chad Henne cant seem to develop confidence on his own so it is a good thing his teammate are helping him along.
Yea we knew Henning was hurting Henne out there. Too much "buzzer" and "taking out on 1st and 2nd, but save us on 3rd" from him. Switching coordinators was such a huge thing for Henne.
It seems like it wasn't only Henning. Sparano was also called out on micro-managing and I think thats what he was doing with Henne. Time will tell if he has changed his micro-managing, but so far it seems he has.
I hate to break it to you, but the only reason they have confidence in him is because he has confidence in himself. Those throws hes making now are CONFIDENT throws, hes CONFIDENT in this new system, and hes breeding confidence in this lockerroom/ huddle as a leader (stated by many players).
I appreciate the attempt at a knock but you gotta step it up.
