While watching the NFL Game of the week, did anyone notice AJ Feeley's reaction after the Frerotte TD pass to McMichael? The camera showed the dolphin sidelines and everyone jumped up cheering and running out onto the field, AJ just stood there and clapped.

Now, i'm not trying to be overly critical and analyzing here, but when i watched that McMike TD catch, myself and some friends here jumped off the couch in excitement, giving each other high 5's and whatnot. Judging from the tape, so did the entire miami team.... except AJ. Is this frustration with not being the QB? is this AJ knowing something that we don't about his future with the team? Does he not have team spirit?

I am NOT trying to make a big deal out of that, just thought it was interesting.... being happy when your team scores is a gut feeling, a knee-jerk reaction - its not something you can actively control. If you don't show emotion, your heart isn't there... When the dolphins score, i can't just sit there and be composed - i have to jump up hootin' and hollerin'..... just like even the Defense does when the Offense scores. How can a "fan" or team "player" sit there and not be excited for the team? I guess i am more challenging where his heart is than anything else.

thoughts?

EDIT: even Sage ran out onto the field cheering...

Seriously, I dont even know why this thread is neccesary.. The dude is third string.. Who cares about him anymore? Im sure he feels burnt.. Im sure he wishes he has an opportunity to be starter again.. At least the guy clapped.. I think Fiedler was the same way when he lost his starting job..

Interesting point...the other day I was watching the locker room celebration and Wayne Huizenga was standing by the locker room door greeting players on their way into the room. When AJ walked by him and shook his hand, he didn't look to like he was very excited about just beating a team that gave the Super Bowl champs an "L" the week before. In fact, he looked like someone very eager to change his clothes and bounce.

Remember when Tony Dungy told Dan Marino that he would have to "earn" the starting QB job in Tampa if he wanted to play for his team and Marino told Dungy that he wasn't anyone's clipboard holder? That was classic.

You can't judge a book by its cover, but usually it works!
However it is hard sometimes if you really feel like you should be playing. Sometimes it is hard to be a good sport especially when it is changing your future and income. He is likely not feeling to teamy.

Is this not a natural reaction? I dont understand why this is such shocking behavior to you all.. Say you are the manager of your department.. Then one day, the boss comes in, hands you a broom, and tells you that you have been demoted to janitor.. You think you are going to be all cheery in the workplace from that point on? I doubt it.

Yeah it'd be tough to still have your passion, but I tell ya what, the guy who gets demoted to janitor who can keep some passion is the guy who's probably gonna climb back up the corporate ladder. Feeley needs to do SOMEthing to have some worth to the team or else he's outta here.

It would probably be easier to take if you already had been the janitor for several years and were given a shot at being the manager, maybe told that you would have a chance to earn the managers job and then you didn't do so well and were sent back to being the janitor again. THis is the case with AJ.....it is not like he was Marino getting sent to 3rd string.....

this is my point - if he was a true competitor, he would feel like he has something to prove, like he has to earn it back. instead he is acting disconnected and like he's not part of the team?

and you justify this by saying he's 3rd string? i don't think that makes a difference.

I'm not even on the team and i can't help but cheer - and i'm sure if i was a waterboy for the dolphins on the sidelines, i'd still be going nuts.

look, i know its a trivial point, but my point was more to show that AJ's heart isn't in it anymore, that maybe he isn't competitive... maybe he just took for granted the fact he was handed the starting job last year and is upset about the fact that he would have to earn it. Regardless of what "string" any player is, i'd like to see them excited for their team.

So jumping up and down like a cheerleader is going to earn him the starting spot again?? Hey, he clapped.. Some people act differently.. AJ actually always seemed a little disconnected unless he was in the game..

All I know is that he must feel like a piece of turd for going from starter to 3rd string in a span of a week.. His confidence is all but shattered, he probably needs a new atmosphere with a real opportunity to regain that.. As for now with this situation? Who cares.. He will never be starter here for any long period of time, so why does it matter if he claps politely after a TD or jumps up and down like cheerleader?

I noticed that too actually, i used tivo and watched his reaction again. I think AJ should be cut. He has no team spirit what so ever, he was probably secretly hoping for gus to struggle so he could get the starting job.

AJ's reaction did nothing more than solidify the fact that he has an attitude problem. It's understandable to be disappointed because you are third string, but lets be honest, if AJ can't realize that he sucked when he got the chance and everyone was on his side at that time (meaning he had no haters)...and he didn't pull through, he needs therapy. He has no one to blame but himself. On top of that, he could be pouting about something else....like having to work 40hrs+ a week, all year long, to make an annual salary that he makes in one game check

I can't wait for Feeley to be traded/cut, not just because of his skill, but because of his personality.

Call me crazy, but for some reason I dont think Gus would be jumping around like a schoolgirl if he were demoted to third string.. Gus pouted when the competition was real in the preseason.. He would act the same way imo.. Players in the doghouse dont tend to be upbeat.
