I recently purchased a draft magazine. I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to mention it or I wouldn't be able to tell you the details of it

so here is goes
there are many issues, first it is rather old, before we signed porter, i bought it today (BLAH)

but anyway
One guy has his top 4 overrated players Quinn, Branch, Ginn, Brown...notice a trend with these guys?

They also have Kalil as the second center in the draft
They have Quinn falling to #23 or #24 (cheifs pick) and think Kolb will be the better pro QB

i found this interesting
do you?

Kalil is the best center in the draft period, IMO better than Nick Mangold from last year. Branch is overrated, Levi needs to be in the right system and if so could be a pro bowl RT. Ginn is going to be a great return man at the least but I don't see him being as good as Steve Smith, who people compare him to. Quinn is the most NFL ready QB, last year Leinart was the most NFL ready and he fell all the way to the Cards. I still have Quinn as the best QB in the draft, followed by Stanton, Russell, Kolb, Edwards. At WR I have Johnson, Bowe, Ginn, Meachem, Rice, Jarrett at Tackle I have Joe Thomas, Joe Staley, Levi, Free, Ugoh.

Quinn is the best in a weak QB draft, I do not see any big time QBs in this years draft, but Jamarcus Russell has a lot of potential and if for some reason he goes to a team with an offensive coordinator that will use him perfectly, then he will be the only QB in this draft that will be remembered.

Alot of people think Kolb can be a very good pro QB. The only thing against him is that he ran shotgun formation offense....

I dont think any of those four are overrated. I think they are rated right where they are for good reason.

In fact, I dont see many busts in this draft in the first round aside from possible injury. Branch and Brown are big players who are known to play big and then suddenly lose it on some plays. So so called experts translate that into them falling off the cliff or something. In fact I think this draft is very solid straight through the second round especially if these QB's show some good stuff in years to come.

Quinn is a buffed kid with all the tools who wants to succeed more than anything. That should clue the expert in a little.

I know what your saying! I couldnt read anymore of the rag...too many things that I could not agree with

and this thing is a highly respected name...IMO until now

by the way, it has us taking the olb...poslonski? because we do not have porter at this point

lets just draft levi brown. that sounds like the smart logical selection.

SPORTING NEWS :fire:.

It's the only magazine dumb enough to say that (along with us taking Paul Posluszny WAY to high at #9)

This is a WRETCHED issue, worst draft guide you could have possibly purchased, and I LIKE Sportning News (I have a subscription to their weekly mag and buy their guy every year).

Pretty much everything they have in there is a joke though. Sorry you wasted $8

Russell and Kold as round 1 worthy, nobody as round 2 worthy, and Quinn in round 3?

Russell being near perfectly rated (after they slam him in almost every WEEKLY publication for being a one-game wonder) but Quinn hardly grading out at average (5.4 if I remember correctly) and Russell recieving better marks than HoF QBs like Marino, Montana, Aikman, and Elway (a feature the weekly publication di awhile back where they graded HoF Qbs)?

Please, what a joke.

I saw a magazine today that had Quinn going in the 3rd round and his NFL comparison was Joey Harrington.

I bought it in Canada $10!!! $11.40 with our taxes
cannot believe I wasted anything on it

I agree their draft rag is usually good

but such is life

and yes Joey Harrington is his comparison in this magazine as well

Thats a rather strong statement...Russell will be the only QB out of this draft to be remembered?

Man I couldnt agree with you more even if I wanted to...right on, this is a very solid draft. Not the typical one with like 5 or so players heads and shoulders above the rest. I think your right here, solid all the way through the 2nd and into the 3rd. Look at the DB's depth, OL depth, WR depth, QB depth. Its really solid, and a good year to have multiple picks in the 1st 3 rounds IMO.

That doesnt mean anything. They compare everyone to someone already in the league, and sooner or later they run out of people to compare the draft eligible guys to. Sometimes a player reminds them of somebody by their personality, their throwing motion, their energy or enthusiasm, or simply how they look, etc. doesnt mean anything to how they are going to perform in the NFL.
