Since the 1990...18 teams have started either 1-3 and 1-4 and made the playoffs. Four of them did it in 2002. Now, you may say "no way" our team is pathetic. Our OL stinks..and our QB holds on to the ball to long.

But..I wonder what the San Diego Charger fans thought of their team in 1992 when they opened the season 0-4. Or the 2001 New England Patriots..(Super Bowl Champs). Their fans were probably bemoaning the same things.

Sure our chances arent wonderful. Most likely we will be lucky to go .500. But if for some reason....we can just get a little momentum...maybe we can turn it around. Its possible. Why...??

Because 18 other teams have done so. All other 18 teams had this one thing in common.

Before week 5 all of their fans thought they sucked to.

Like Saban said yesterday. There are still 3 Qtrs to play. We are 1-3, and I hate it. Im not happy. And the only thing this Miami fan has to say is...

PLEASE KNOCK THE MOTH#$% $%**& $^^* OUT OF THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS!!!!!

Let's win another game before we start sending this squad to the playoffs. Check out the rest of the schedule.

Lots of things are "possible."

Watching the team should tell you that while it is technically "possible" it is extremely improbable and practically impossible.

A. Nobody is sending this team to the playoffs.

B. You missed the entire point of the thread.

C. I didnt make the news article up to begin with.

Can we agree on one thing, the Pats have a winning record. But their not playing very well. The running game is clicking, but that seems to be our force on defense to stop the run. Brady is playing that well check his stats. So I think we may have a plesent surprise this weekend.

And my point was that those same teams had fans that writhed in agony and thought they were the worst team in football.

Do you think any of those teams fans thought...gee..we're 1-3....We're Awsome. Come on. I wasnt saying that in the first place. I was just linking an article written that I happened to find interesting. If you or any like you dont...then go cry in your beer on Sunday..what the f do I care.

You're saying that "all hope is not lost." I agree with that. I'm not optimistic and I wasn't particularly optimistic before the season.

I'd simply be curious to know how many teams started 1-3 or 1-4 and did not make the playoffs. Maybe try and put your bubbling optimism in perspective.

I see what you are saying vt_dolfan you are right all is not lost however, if we do not make some changes in our playcalling and gameplan it will be all lost. I look at this sundays game as a do or die game we have a chance to get some real momentum going this sunday against the patsies. all is not lost yet.

Did you see what they did to the Bengals by any chance on Sunday lol.

They're going to run and run and run against us until we can stop it. Dillon and Maroney are viscious. They're passing game isn't as great. They're biggest weapon so far is Doug Gabriel who's performance is mediocre thus far. The key to winning this game is stop the run and our o-line protecting quarterback and giving the ball more to Ronnie and Chambers.

Bubbling optomism. Did you even READ my first post. You couldnt have...as I plainly stated that we will probably be lucky to finish .500. Im also smart enough to realize that since only 18 teams since 1990 have started 1-3, that leaves a whole bunch of teams that havent. I had assumed that you would have picked up on that. Guess not. My point was more to the fans....

What do you think those fans of the 1-3, 1-4, 0-4, teams were saying about their teams at week 5? No all is not lost. We can win..because we do have the talent on the team to do so. It would be one thing if we had no play makers...but we do. Will it happen...odds say it wont. But Im sure not gonna give up on the team. Never will.

hey VT, HOW DARE YOU start a positive thread and make an attempt to get a good a good vibe going. Don't you know that as a Fin fan you're supposed to whine like a little girl and say all hope is lost??!!! What's wrong with you??!!!!!

I agree with your post 100%. I am very optimistic. Why the hell not be????
We as fans have 2 choices here. Be negative or be positive. We don't know what the hell is gonna happen. We have no control. So why not be positive????? BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just sure hope alot of these Fin fans don't approach everyday life with the same negative outlook:shakeno: .

To cut a long story short: unless we're MATHEMATICALLY eliminated from the playoffs, there is hope. Can we agree on that?

Granted it is extremely tough for any 1-3 or 0-4 team to make the playoffs. Unfortunately we have backed ourselves into a corner and have made the Pats game a must win. Yeah a MUST WIN.

With the number of quality AFC teams compared to the NFC I see needing a 10-6 record to get in. 9-7 ain't going to cut it. Because of this we absolutely cannot afford a 0-2 hole in the division and 1-4 not with the teams coming up on the schedule.

If we win vs. Pats we have a shot - a long one granted but a shot. Lose and then yeah anything can happen but it would be a minor miracle and Saban would have to pull off his best coaching of his career to motivate a team in such desparate straits.

P.S. I love the positivity and enthusiasm of posting this thread. Am I homer; heck yeah I am and proud of it!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

Well...
I don't know what the scedule was for those teams but our losses to the Bills and the Texans (how embarrassing) and almost losing to the titans is not impressive. The only way we could come back is if we stop making stupid mistakes all the time. How many times did we get to the texans territory and get knocked right back with a sack or penalty? Try ALOT! We could turn around if this team will focus and complete the plays correctly. Like passing when leading the Steelers 17-14.

How many of those 18 teams played against the best or worst in those first 4-5 games? I am still hopeful but not optimistic. If we had a 1-3 record against playing better teams I would still be optimistic. But we played some of the worst teams that our schedule has.
